Ok, I know the 4 to 5 lug swap has already been covered more than enough times but i have a different question... I have 2 s14's one with 5 and one with 4 i want the one that is 4 right now to be swapped to 5 and just switch my 4 onto the other car. My question is do i have to change the calipers also or just the disks and hubs? I know that the one that is going to 5 is going to work just not sure if both cars have the same disks just with different holes... both s14's are 95's.
Thanks.

You do not need to swap calipers.

same car, simular parts.. should be easy to look and see that "maybe they fit"..
Now if it was like a 240sx and a supra, thats when one would typically come up wiht the idea to ask if it was possible or not. but come on we're tlaking about 2 240s!!

Like stated before, You do not need to change the Calipers. Just have them re-drilled to 5lug and get some 5lug brake pads, off a 240-se or 300.

Turning rotors is the worst idea ever for spirited driving.

you are the worst idea ever for spirited driving. turning rotors is just taking a bit off the top to make it straight again. you're an idiot if you think its stupid.

ok, the se 240 has abs i guess they use different bearings for the front hubs or somthing, i can't have the abs light on, will it come on? I'm not going to go though all the work and have it turn out that i can't swap the stuff becuase if i can't have the abs work properly on the se model than i can't do it. what do you guys think? i did search, nothing came up about it just the normal 4 to 5 lug swap not have everything work on both the cars...
Thanks for all the help thisfar.

ABS ring is on the hub, you can't swap it.

ok, thanks for the help, if anyone has any reason to think otherwise about why it may work please say why. For some reason i though people could swap 4 to 5 lug in between s14's really easy but i dunno now...

I just wrote why. You can swap hubs easily, all day long even, if they're both ABS or both non-ABS cars. But like I just said, you can't swap between cars with differening options because the ABS will no longer function without the sensor ring in place. If you're not going to read the responses then don't bother asking in the first place.

No, i read yours i didn't mean to offend you i just didn't know if any one else had an suggestion for the cheepest way i can make it work because i just wasn't possitive yet about if what you said was true...So what i'm thinking is the 4 lug to 5 lug hub swap will work but the 5 lug to 4 lug swap in my particular situation won't work?
Do the rear hubs have the same abs bearings? Also is there no way to get the sensor/bearing to fit in the non abs hub or has anyone done it?
I didn't mean to come off like i didn't read just wanted someone to double that but whatever.
Thanks.
Edit: I forgot, i had a question about swapping in the lsd (if it has one not sure yet). Are an open diff and a lsd interchangable between the s14's?

The rear sensor is in the diff, it's a three channel system. Swapping the diff will also disable ABS.
The front sensor rings cannot be removed from the hubs. You would need to find 4lug ABS hubs (extremely rare) and another LSD to in order to swap the hubs and keep ABS on the SE car.

why do you need abs?

why do you need abs?
Reading kills you. The 5lug car he wants the hubs/diff from has to be kept complete and running. Removing them will disable the ABS.

oh ok. but why do you need abs? the brakes on s14's are horrible as it is. bulbectomy seems to be in order.

well its just that my dad was gonna do me a favor and give some parts off his car that he didn't nessesarely need but he wanted to keep everything in working order so alot of the parts were only gonna be swapped if everything worked ok after the swapping but its not gonna work out. The abs needed to be working becuase the car is gonna be sold on his lot, it wont pass safety unless the abs is working.
thanks for all the help. :wiggle:
