anybody ever have this problem with the nismo motor mounts?? I know they are supposed to raise the motor a bit, but now I'm not sure if the top of the motor is hitting the hood. I know at least the top-mount fuel rail is...wasn't before. Also, I have a Greddy v-spec IC with piping and now the cold-pipe to the throttle body doesn't want to line up no matter how much we adjust the piping. Is this normal??

Nismo motormounts are known to raise the engine by about 1". You could use hood spacers and they'll clear just fine, or go back to stock ones filled with urethane.

Or you can get real poly ones from JGS. I have Nismo ones and next time I'm going with a set of these. They don't raise the motor at all.

The mount is made by Energy Suspension and the billet adapter made by JGS:D
The motor is located just like stock (not higher like the Nismo MMs).
Price will be 119.99 a set (a little cheap than Ni$mo MM from most sources). Your choice of red or black. The only mod would be enlarging the MM engine bracket hole to 7/16", if anybody doesn't have a drill I can do a core exchange on pre-drilled engine brackets... but it is really easy to do since you will need to either pull the brackets or the cross member to get the engine mounts in anyhow

there are also full urethane ones. Drift Freaq IIRC sells em.

or use windoweld for like 16 bucks and use the rest for REAL parts :)

Double check and make sure the engine is sitting evenly in the cradle and that not one side is bi-est to one side causing that side to be higher, NISMO engine mounts dont make the engine sit higher they just correct the sag by putting new ones, I installed this with a FSTB and had no problems, and I currently have CUSCO engine mounts on now also with no problems.

'bi-est'? Do you mean 'biased'? If not, what are you saying?

You can be ghetto and goop up the stock ones :haha:

Theres a few different mounts out there. I've heard some good things about the Kazama SPL mounts

nismo mounts are made for the SR, but work for the KA if you put them in backwards, otherwise you cant shut the hood if you have a KA.

Then how come my nismo mounts were identical to the stock ones that I removed??

sheesh, misinformation up the yinyang...

I've never heard of Nismo mounts creating this much of a problem. I suggest checking to see if your motor is sitting correctly and you've installed them properly.

Use hood spacers or washers to get it to clear your valve cover. Your coldpipe can be easily welded to fit....

There's no mis-information.
Nismo mounts on the KA need to be swapped left and right or it does sit the motor too high.
They are identical, the L Nismo mount is the same as the R KA OEM mount and vice versa.

And to the original poster, who sounds like he has an SR, as the other guy already mentioned above you should check if they are lined up and seated correctly, you should have no clearance issues at all.

Yeah but you swap them left to right on the KA. Jesus.
That's what he's saying.
I've done it on several cars, as have a million others that actually know what they are doing.

Well, if you wander over to the group buy section you will see, that not only do I sell complete fully
Poly mounts but they have been track tested and have a 9000lb tensile strength. Cost is $115 delivered and you can pay by paypal.

Yeah, I know it doesn't really raise it more than stock, it's just supposed to bring it back up to where it's supposed to be, just seemed a bit high. Just was wondering mainly why IC piping from greddy wasn't mounting right up to the TB with the nismo mounts....maybe greddy didn't use a car with new mounts to test fit the piping...? Anyway, just wondering. Thanks

9000lb...isn't that a little over kill? hehe

I know for a fact that this isn't true, at least for S14's w/KA. My NISMO mounts still cleared the strut tower bar no problem. From what I understand S13 + S14 bays are identical so there is another issue at play I would think.

I fuckin' give up. :bash: The L Nismo mount is identical to the R OEM mount for the KA and vice versa. I've done 3 s14 ka's, including my own, with my own hands. If you ignore the big friggin L and R on the side of the mounts and just put them in by comparing the actual mounts then you'd never know the difference.

this is a little off topic...

but can you install the motormounts by just unbolting the mounts and jacking up the engine, or hoist, and not disconnect anything major?

You can use a jack, no hoist needed. If you need more room you can lower the subframe some. Just keep an eye out not too jack up the motor too high and crush any lines along the firewall, or snap an A/C line. And watch the fan and shroud if you still have it.

it is what is and lots of people have bought our mounts and like them. They work well and are not so stiff, that your teeth or dash get rattled, hehehe. Though they are definitely a step up from Nismo mounts and not as expensive.

It's not the mounts. I have seen alot of people have problems with Top Feed rails on SR's hitting the STB and/or hood.

Actuall this is untrue. At first, I thought the same as you did. I even installed it that way. Well when I took out the Right OEM mount, it had the same shiny bottom as the Right Nismo mount. They were the same. So I had to uninstall the mount. Now I gotta say the putting in the Right Nismo mount into the Left OEM mount side is a lot easier, but WRONG. No doubt, that they WILL fit either way, but I compared the mounts and the Badging matches up.

Here is a pic of the "shiny" Right side OEM/Nismo mount im talking about:

hahaha. Now it's just funny.
Good thing you didn't have any other shiny things lying around, you may have mistook them for a motor mount.... you know, because it's shiny.

I had the same problem. I mounted mine up and the engine leaned badly to one side, turns out I used my gold watch instead of the shiny mount. It looked the same to me in the dark.

whatever. just use common sence working on your car. thats all that matters. when i was doing my srswap it was the same, my friends sr swap was the same. however i i did sohc to dohc swap with my friend on him car and its still the same. maybe we were just using the "right" mounts. hehe. im not doging u, chill. im just saying i never encountered this problem so it sounded like bs to me

So how about a recap?

NISMO MOUNTS raise the engine by roughly 1"
OEM mounts are the reversed way, ie, Left OEM mount is the Right Nismo mount
That being said, you can use NISMO mounts on KAs (reversed setup) or SRs (proper setup)
Bolt up with NO HASSLE.

Is that clear enough?
