Currently using Internet Explorer, but somehow I can't compose email recently; it loads up half way and saids error on this page. The box that you use to type messages in doesn't appear. I can check emails though. I'm looking for recommendations on what I should use instead of I.E.. I've searched and found that Monzilla was recommeneded by PC World, but that was back in 2003. What's good nowadays?

Firefox or avant browser. But either can be flakey at times so it wouldn't be a bad idea to keep ie close at hand.

opera is one of the worst w3c standard compliant browsers i've seen, rarely displays pages the way they're supposed to, the only problems i've had with firefox is crashing on odd plugins people include on pages sometimes, other than that, if the page doesnt look right, don't blame the browser, blame the webmaster

even though firefox and opera now hold respectable portions of the web browser "market", 90% of webmasters STILL code IE specific.

It's just stupid, if a page doesn't look right on another browser, chances are, that's why.

I personally run Opera, but I have to admit there are times when scripts won't run correctly (ex. ms office online, exchange server web interface, etc) But go figure that its mostly pages made with FrontPlague and some with MS backend specific stuff that screws up.

I can't stand firefox as far as ease of use compared to Opera... funny how opera was first with tabular browsing, yet they get no cred for it.
Weak Sauce.

anyways, my 2 cents from someone who used LYNX and Mosaic since arpanet

And if it's acting up you have to have spyware:

So I downloaded Monzilla Firefox and I can check my email now, so far so good.
Question: When I right click on a link to "open link in new window," it automatically switches to that new window. How can I open the new window and NOT have it switch over?

ALTRNTV

I don't think you can. If you click on "open link in new window," it will always switch over to the new page. Someone correct me if I'm wrong..

KEEP IE. Fire fox is great, but for any vidieo to be displayed you have to switch back to IE for it to display right. WMV doesn't have an easy plugin (ont that i can install while drunk)

What exactly are mouse gestures?

they allow you to exectue commands by using the mouse, generally you hold down a mouse button, like right click and drag in a direction, or several in some cases, to exectue commands. example, in firefox if i want to open a new tab, i drag up, if i want to close the current tab, i drag down, you can do this anywhere in the window, and there are many things you can program

be that as it may, i'm sure it's NOT been in there since 2001 or so... being that firefox wasn't around yet.

I've loved Firefox since it's introduction, but like many people have mentioned, I have used IE as a backup. There are a significant number of pages/popups/media that Firefox cannot load, but work perfectly fine on IE.
