alright, so i have been researching this for a while now and have come up with the following as pro and cons of the sr20de with itb's:

pros:
cheaper engine
high/quick revving
less expensive upkeep
no lag in power

cons:
itb's expensive
tuning is a pain
less torque
less horsepower

i have also found the following sites selling sr20de itb's:
http://www.tweakit.net/shop/product_info.php?products_id=120
http://www.tomei-p.co.jp/_2003web-catalogue/efr_engindex.html
anyone know of anyone else selling them?

i am mainly trying to figure out the benefits of the set up and what types/brands there are available. I have seen this done with the GTi-R throttle bodies. How much work is needed to make them work? what kind of horsepower is possible? i have read in the 200 range.

I don't want this to turn into a "if you want go N/A, then stick with the KA" thread or one talking about itb-ing a KA, i already read that thread. all help would be greatly appreciated.

u left out twm induction........ but i think ur cons are kind of misguided.. except for expenses..
u can actually modify those itb to use a single large tb easily if u wanted to... hp expectancy is a variable... considering engine builder and tune setup... but ive seen a sohc push close to 300 or more with a ITB setup using race gas of course.. i wouldnt definetly go for a ITB setup instead of modifying a bunch of stock parts to accomadate a certain setup wanted..

GTiR ITBs will work, I dont think (keyword: THINK) you need any kind of adapter plates or anything to fit it.

I've seen motors in Japan that simply swap over the head from the GTiR engine onto a S-chassis SR block.

Doesn't Mikuni make ITBs also for SR20?

good responses. what is the website for mikuni? i looked on twm induction and it looks like they will make a custom setup for the sr20de but they don't stock something for it. also, are the mikuni throttle bodies a crossover part originally made for motorcycles?

are the itb's smooth enough at idle for a daily driver? i have read that they are a little rough, but that is most likely in the high horsepower range (like the 300hp setup mentioned above).

keep up the good work.

I think the rough idle is usually due to aggressive cams (more), not the TB itself (less).

mikunis are carbs......... if u plan on running no fuel injectors then go for it... dozens of datsun guys use them and theyre great by far...... the thing with those gtir ITB is that i believe youd have to reclock it.. cause when its placed on the motor in car.... it points towards the firewall... id still go for the twm induction setup... just cause... as for idle issues.. i believe you wouldnt have a problem search scooters aka rbs14 for his ITB setup...

Or you could use gitr itb's with velocity stacks, and the engine management to go with it.

it's really not that hard. ITB, EMS, tuning. It just takes time and money.

All that work to get n/a power then they just through nitrous at it. I guess after spending 4grand to get 200whp they were pissed...

that is a sweet as setup, minus the nitrous. i know those are the gti-r itb's, but does anyone know the exact setup in the picture (i.e. is that the gti-r head, ecu, yada yada).

.

hmmm, sounds like this would be a bad idea.

and how does nitrous make that setup any less sweet?

that picture with the N/A SR20 is from a previous super-street magazine.
Just out of curiosity, RB motors have ITB mani so, can you rig/fabricate the manifold onto an SR20det? [ This goes for N/A & turbo ]

i am just not a fan of nitrous. also, the less torque and less horsepower potential was compared to the sr20det.

Modifying ITB's off of the GTR would be more hassle than the modifications required to modify the ITB's off of the Pulsar GTI-R sr20det

mmmm SEXY mmmm

its all about trottle response and driving style, some jsut like NA i have a corolla and id prefer high reving to max power, its just how ive learned to drive.

What about the KA is there anything for it, Ive found an enginge management I was kinda hopeing that there would be something easy for it. Govt computer so I couldnt see how the other ITB was set up
