The only thing I dont like is that one reason this is desireable for the USA is because we can fit a massive turbo without having to worry about master cylinder clearence. But that car is RHD so goodbye space
Who cares if it isnt tottally slammed, probably means it is actually driven. I do agree with the "stick with a Nissan engine" but there arent any newer RWD Toyota platforms that are below 3000lbs. It has reasons, you just might not agree with em so whatevs = )

I agree, first of all, we're in America, and I'm in California. 2JZ is easier to smog, than SR, plus way more power potential. I like it.

Moot point as both engines are illegal in the 240.

Unless the 2JZ is swapped out of a USDM car newer than the S-chassis its going into and retains all of its smog equipment.

I'm sure that big single turbo in the picture is pushing more than 350hp ;)

+1
I actually started a thread about this in FreshAlloy a few weeks back.
We've already concluded that its perfectly legal to swap a non-Nissan motor into a Nissan, and that applies for any make as well.
The only catch is it has to be USDM engine and retain all the original smog equipment, it all HAS to work and a BAR ref has to sign off on it.
Nice find, I've been scavenging for info on it... its a very common swap in Thailand. No joke.
And to the guy who said its "gay" to have a 2JZ in a S-chassis... stfu.

One of my buddies lived over in Thailand for 2 years and ran with the upper class circles..... One of the guys had a 2JZ swapped into a FD, hade something like 850hp, he showed me an article on it in one of the Thai mags. Said it was unstable as hell above 150kph. (He got a ride in it.)

i like it, the exterior is clean enough, simple

i like it. the swap is interesting nontheless. lots of power. as far as wheels, they are not that great, yea, kinda plain. but they do need more meat on them. as far as ride height? who cares, still faster than most of you. :keke:
btw, that radiator needs to go. plastic peice of shit

Thats very true, but I just don't think that anyone swapping in that 2jz is going to keep the emissions.
that car is my father.
my father needs wheels and better suspension

I have been thinking about flipping 1j 240's on ebay and milk the cow before its dry, but a 240 swap you want to keep, it cost alot less to modify a 2j then a rb26. Big ups to the the 2j powerd 40. Nothing new, but a damn nice.

We have a guy on Carolinanissans.com that has a S13 with a 2JZ, I think he's in the army and I don't think he goes on the boards too much, might be a lurker though
here's his:

The car has been Dynotuned, unfortunately a bad clutch is not laying the true power to the rear wheels. With factory twin turbos, a Profec B spec II boost controller, Greddy fuel cut controller, Modified intake and custom exhaust and no other mods these are the numbers of my 240/2JZ.

yeah... cuz a motor that can produce/hold WAY more power than an SR is gay cuz its not a Nissan motor... you people are ridiculous.

2JZ has a super strong stock bottom that will hold up to 800hp.
If your comparing the cost of the engine and HP to the SR then yes this is the way to go... however compared to the RB26... the RB26 has a longer higher RPM power band, and cost the same to modify as the 2JZ.
We have played and researched this awhile back... Not hatting on the 2JZ swap because honestly thats awsome, but the RB26 still wins and not just because its a Nissan engine.
Peace

Not to be arguementative, but I don't see the rb winning over the 2j. Especially dollar for dollar spent. You would have to get into stroking the rb and that is not cheap. Port the head, throw in a set of pistons, 272 or 280 cams or better yet the custom cams that I had crane make and you can make 1000+ with little issue. Have made 900+ on bone stock bottom ends, but that wouldn't be advised for long term use. Again, I am asking not antagonising.
but you dont need more than 650hp in a 240sx anyways, it will have no where to go.
what would you do with a 1000+ hp S13? certianly you couldnt drive the thing around.
they are barely driveable with 400hp
frig, i have like 250rwhp and i alreayd have 5 speeding tickets and 11 tickets total.
if i had 400+ rwhp i'd be dead already and probably would have taken 3-4 people with me.
it doesnt matter which is the better engine, RB vs, 2J, they're both hot
all this hating ... i like the wheels... needs to be slammed in the frotn with some fatter tires... all the haters jealous.. hehe, how much will all you guys hate if there happend to be a 13b (N/A) in an s13?

Sounds like you have a problem controlling your heavy foot, and not the car.

you suck at driving then bing
haha
i have quite a fw friends who have 400+ under their foot in varoius types of cars (supra, fd3s, fc3s, z32s, s13, etc etc etc)
some make 700+ to the wheel and still drive them often.

Depends on what you are after. For me if I were to do a second 240 for drag use only then I would be looking at a 2j. But for fartin' around on the street, I think my 2871 with the addition of an intake and exhaust mani and a step up to the .86 backside will suffice. Make for a good powerband and probably run 10's with a perfect pass if and when i take it to the strip.

The first 2jz swapped 240 ive ever seen was back in 01. There were 3 2jz swapped S14s in NYC and i ran into 2 of em in Englishtown. That was before anybody in the states even put in a RB26 in a 240 in the states. Wait I might have to retract that last statement...anybody remember "Lil GTR"??? AWD GTR Equipped S14 that was trailer-queened?
