View Full Version : AC hose in the way!!!

Whats up everyone. Just working on getting my sr installed. dropped the engine in the other night. I chose to keep my ac since my car will be a daily driver but i have ran into a problem after putting the motor in. Check this out...

The damn hose is in the way of the turbo inlet pipe!!! It comes in about half an inch. If i could bend the line it would be great but that line is stiffer than shit. WTF can i do besides gut my AC. Anyone else have this problem? If so what did you do to take care of it.

I don't know what year car you have or if you engine is a s13 or s14. By the look of the a/c line it's a s13 car. I have a s14 with a s14 sr engine. I had a problem with the same line. My a/c compressor wouldnt bolt up and the a/c line which looks line a horseshoe with a tank was in the way. I ended up getting a a/c fitting from a 95 altima from a junk yard. they had the same a/c as my car but the a/c fitting for the low pressure was running from the a/c compressor towards the firewall instead of towards the front of the car. I had a custom line made. It was actually cheap. You would have to dump the system and have it vac. and recharged. It sux I know. You can't bend the line. I tryed to heat it up with a torch and bend it, didnt work for me. I ended up heating the hose up too much and made it come loose. Good luck

Ya I have an S13 with an S13 redtop. Seems like it will be a pain in the ass. Ill have to upgrade to r134a because mine is a 93...

You don't have to change to R134. There is a refrigerant that can be used in the place of the gas in the system now. It works fine and is cheap. My friend used it in his miata. I can't remember the name.
