three months ago we swapped in another ka24de. did a clutch job at the same time.

ONE week ago my asshole friend tells me she stripped one of the bolts that holds the pressure plate onto the flywheel. they took a longer bolt and caught on threads deeper in the flywheel and torqued it to spec. the bolts are low torque bolts iirc... something like 20ft/lbs of torque only. still i'm worried. technically wouldn't it mean it is unbalanced by a tiny margin? even if its only a gram, the flywheel spins pretty fucking fast...

eng: ka24de
fly: fidanza lightweight flywheel

am i going to lose a foot if i drive this stupid car?
how should i kill my friend?

p.s. never let an idiot girl torque shit down on your car, EVER. fucked up a $500 flywheel. *argh*

i feel the same way. i overtorqued one of the pressure plates bolt on my fidanza too and kinda strip the threads in there. i still put the bolt in, but it just wouldn't tighten so i didnt tight it all the way, just so that its somewhat holding the pressure plate on...

i never lost a leg or anything. plus, the pressure plate is head on by 5 other bolts and 3 pins. should be fine.

ps. at least you know a girl who would get down and dirty under a car. but i would be pissed that she help mess up an expensive flywheel too.. just think of it as more like 300 flywheel and not exagerate that it is a 500 flywheel and that she was only trying to help.

maybe... lol. i'm still kind of annoyed. i mean, if it was a guy who fucked that shit up; i would make him buy me a new one. maybe you're right, though. i guess i should lighten up a bit.

why didnt you take the oppurtunity to do the job yourself since it was a FIVE HUNDRED DOLLAR FLYWHEEL! I mean... im not trying to be an ass.. but if it was a significant job which had delicate work invovled, wouldnt you have took the initiative to do the job yourself?

Don't give her such a hard time bro, its not like she woke up in the morning and said "Imma fuck that guys flywheel up so bad!" If it makes you feel uneasy about driving it.. take it apart and redo it yourself, or take it to a transmission shop.

maybe i should clarify guys

im not that angry that she messed up the flywheel. luckily, by what FR said, it looks like its going to be a non-issue.

im more angry that she intentionally didn't bother to tell me about it until three months after it happened. what if it was a real concern, and i had been driving around on it all this time? yeah, that wouldn't be cool.

You're fine. I lost one in my old car and drove with only five bolts securing the pressure plate for several years afterward.
