Well i'm actually more looking for people's opinion because i'm getting the work done for really cheap by a family friend. Actually you'll see in the pics that he already started the work. What i'm asking is that a few people told me that it's not worth it to fix a rusted car, and mine has a lot of rust but the guy doing it says he can fix it. It's kinda hard to find really clean s13 coupes in Canada so since I got this one for a great deal I wanted just to stick with it. So what would you guys do sell it or continue like I'm doing. I already installed cusco front and JIC rear full coil overs (currently at a high setting, will drop it when it comes out the shop), did a auto to 5 speed conversion, bought the Silvia front end (which you can see in the pics), and bought some 2003 sentra sE-r wheels (for now until I can afford the 5 lug swap). During the winter i'm planning to drop in an sr engine and do some other suspension add ons.

It all depends on you. If you're even asking us this question, than maybe it isn't worth it. To me, if you're happy with the finished product, then it was all worth it. If you're questioning yourself on if you paid too much, or if it's going to cost you alot, then I don't think it was worth it.
Show us more pics when it's out of the shop.

Alright, well the cost isn't the problem cause it isn't costing a lot due to the fact that the work is being done by a friend. He keeps assuring me that it's going to be really nice when it's finished but "most" of the people that see it in the shop are like, "shit it's not worth to fix this thing" and others and looking forward to the finished product. Regarless i'm gonna finish it just wanted to here people's take on it, or if they had similar dilemas with their rides. Ya'll are lucky that you don't get rust like we do over in Cali.

I've seen cars come back from much worse rust then that. Not S13's, but I used to work on Classic Chevy's. My Dad's '55 needed all kinds of work to replace the rusted panels. Sure some may think that a restored '55 Shoebox is worth more then a restored S13. But it's only worth it if someone wants it. If you want the car, then it's worth it. If you have doubts, then you may want to leave the project to someone who has more desire to see it finished. Not saying you don't have what it takes to finish it, just making a suggestion.

You've gone too far to go back now, especially since you are getting a deal. Go ahead and finish it since it's half done anyway. BTW, is that rust over the window? That's an odd place to rust, quarterpanels, doors, I can see that happening, but over the window, how much salt can you get up there?

take off ALL the lights dude, no sense in scuffin those up or painting around em at this point. strip it down as far as you can. it'll be worth it but only if you followthrough.

if you want to do the work, do it.
it would be easier to get a better cond s13 coupe.
but not everyone wants to go the easy route. there's something gratifying about doing things the hard way.

you aren't gonna find a perfectly straight S13 coupe anyhow. this is the only way to get it lookin new again.
i dont regret a single dime dropped on my heap. i did all the bodywork myself too.

Damn thats the situation im in right now too. I got some rust on my s14 and i want to finish this bitch nice and clean. But i thought it wasent much then i said f it and start it hitting the rust and damn it was a ton of rust it just flaked right off and now i have a 10 by 3.5 inch hole under the driver side door which looks like its still rusting. It aint much but i checked my trunk and found a lot of surface rust which was going in a bit more worse so im going to start welding pretty soon which im still not sure if its a good idea.
I already flat blacked the car and im waiting to put a turbo kit on it and rebuild a ka i found oh yeah suspension is done. Im still not sure if its worth going for it. Im kinda set on fixing the rust and getting a vs body kit and paint it. But rust really made me sad after i started taking chunks of my body panels.

Yo guys thanks for the imput, The dude doing it is saying when it's done he's gonna drill the correct holes and shoot pure greese up inside the frame and shit. He says with that and the fact that i won't be driving it in the winter I should be allright. I'm supposed to be going over to the shop tomorrow so i'll get some updated pictures. Yeah I was planning on taking out all the lights, and the winshield is already out, but thanks for pointing it out. I'll keep ya'll updated. One thing I do notice though is that most of the 240sx I see in the pics (well s13's i'm talking about) ya'll doors line up perfectly straight, I bought new hinge bushings and pins but the door still doesn't perfectly follow the line. One of the fenders is a little off but that's gonna get adjusted. It's only like that cause I did a quick job of putting on the fender and the rest of the JDM front myself before bringing it to the shop. But after a whole bunch or adjustement I still can't get the door looking like most of the straight ones I see. Oh well guess i'll try some more, o i'll jut leave it as close as I can, any suggestions would be appreciated. Oh yeah and about the rust around the window, I was surprised as hell too. When we sanded off the old paint I couldn't believe the holes there. It's wiered for it to rust there, but we planning on cutting out that whole piece and putting a new one back so we'll see how it goes.

Lining up body panels takes the most time and is where most of the cost of labor is. Ever panel made is a different sizes. OEM is the closest, Most kits are get what you pay for and Aftermarket Replacement Panels are typically horrible.

i dont think its a waste, i mean i do bodywork also so a rusted car is just another project,
all u need is some extra metal some 36grit and alot of time

Yeah i've actually been looking trying to find a rear subframe for my car. Surprisingly it's kinda hard. I bought the rear subframe bushings but trying to find a nice subframe so I can put everything in all at once well hopefully I can get something by the time my car is all painted cause it doesn't seem to hard to take out. Four bolts and that should be it. Well man we get rust everywhere cause the person whoever had the car before me drove it in the winter. It's not the winter that kills our cars over here, it's all that damn salt they put on the roads. It eats away at everything. If you don't rust proof your car pretty much every year or two you'll get screwed in the end. So yeah even rust on the brake dust shield. Well that will be gone with the z32 swap. In time my young padawan...

The funny thing is that underneath the floor is in great shape. The only thing i'm going to change is the rear subframe cause It has surface rust on it. I could probably get away with taking it off stripping it and sandblasting it but we'll see what route i'll take with that after I price what another one would cost. I'll take some pics of underneath so you can see what i'm taking about.
