ok so i decided to cut the BS and start some real work on the car and i got her to start up, finally... the culprit? bad ecu and timing. so now i got a new 62 and timed her a la FSM. problem is theres alot of smoke from the exhaust and some from the SR. i thought maybe the turbo was blown but i checked the hot pipe and there wasnt much oil in there. i know the engine should smoke a bit cuz its been chillen in the garage for a year... and its not even that bad. but the exhaust throws out alot of smoke and i think it misfires. the exhaust is kinda loud so its kinda hard to tell but i do hear the wastegate and it whistles everytime i let off on the throttle.. It also idles at a good 750-850 rpms. The car revs up nicely, and a little smoothly, but the more throttle i give it, the more smoke pours out. its really bad. i know the compression is very good, had a mechanic do a comp test. some speculate a blown oil ring, or just alot of junk oil burning inside the motor. i really think im running rich, fuel pump maybe? so experts.... help please? thanks in advance.

95 s13 blacktop w/ 62 ECU *i still use the oem fatty o2 sensor
hks exh manifold
gt25rs, no BOV just wastegate
hks o2 housing (elbow pipe)
RSR downpipe and exhaust
FMIC
Walboro FP
stock injectors, stock FPR

also the gas in the tank is around a year old. its a lightly colored red. the last time i had the car running i dont remember throwing out this much smoke, just from the enginge burning oil around it maybe...

burn up all that gas, then try again. I wouldn't use year-old gas.

PS, y was it sitting around for so long?

Shoudlnt be running rich due to the walbro if you are running the stock FPR...you should hook up a FPG and see what the pressure is..you can get them really cheap for under the hood types..like 20 bucks..then just splice the kine going from the filter to the fuel rail and drop the guage right there...how many miles on the T25? If you just installed the Turbo/Manifold/Oil lines etc etc..it will smoke a little just from surface oil that has gotten in the pipes and all...what was your compression at by cylinder?

what color was your smoke? i remember mine was smoking a ridiculous amount, it's cause one of my injectors blew, one of the cap things that hole the fuel in the rail broke or wasn't there i ono what happened, so it leaked a bunch of gas which caused me to run hella rich, and i was blowing a lot of smoke and flames as loud as a gunshot =) (scary yet cool)

yay the car kinda sounds like its dying nasty... ik also saw some smoke comin out of the cat, around the gasket area. i used a silicone compound to cover it up for now.

new update: seems my driveshaft bolts werent on properly. one bolt got bent nasty. result? running on 2 bolts instead of 3 on the drive shaft. theres actually six bolts but 3 connect from the tranny. are we posotive its the fuel? shouldi just drain this tank?

thanks again.
