ok lets start this off with specifications, my car is a 98 5spd obd II ka24de still installed. some shit went down, lets not go into specifics, but it required me buying new harnesses. i go to the junkyard, to my surprise oh look a 98, its fresh, motor isn't even pulled yet its not even in the yard, but its an auto. so i took all the harnesses anyways..
i pulled the engine harness upper and lower, the front car harness (connects at the plug above kickpanel fusebox and wraps around the front of the car hitting headlights/e-fan/fusebox), the underdash harness from fusebox all the way to engine harness connection. all of these are complete minus one plug for stereo is cut (whooopty doo).
ok so the install! first off lets hit all the grounds ok? 2 major component grounds on the radiator support, check! 2 major grounds on each end of the dash support bar, check! 2 relays on passenger side in cavity below dash support, check, connect all connections on passenger side for engine harness to dash harness, check. connect all connections door and all and hook up 2 relays on driver side and install fusebox etc.
ok, now everythings hooked up, all boxes are on the dash harness with the exception of the automatic transmission brain. lower engine harness is connected to two plugs on exterior of engine fusebox leaving 4 female plugs unused, i hear thats normal for 5spds using automatic harnesses (5spd converted autos) so i let that go. hook all power up, ground from battery to car, car to motor ground, ground alternator, hook up starter/alternator, ok cool! now i'm going to turn the keys. ughhhhh nothing happens, no clock no lights no starter click. well that seems odd so i get the optima redtop checked, yep its still good, a tad low charge but its good. i think to myself what else could be the problem? well my old ignition cylinder on the steering column had a pigtail that had 2 exposed wires so i got a new one from the junkyard, off that automatic, and installed that. my car used to have alarm, but the only alarm connections were on the doors and hood so that means all alarm stuff was maintained in the front car harnesses, not the middle nor rear. ok now i'm fucking out of ideas? no fuses are blown, have not started testing relays. so i'm beating my head sitting in the car and turn on the headlights, well. one headlight works (driver) passenger doesn't (lowbeams) but the highbeams both work, nothing interior lights up with the headlights. the door locks work, cool. nothing else happens. i turn the key on nothing happens, one time i heard the relay click for an attempted start in the engine fusebox but nothing more. man guys c'mon please help me out here, i'm really lost. is there a specific way to test relays? i can't narrow this shit down to one relay. thanks for any help at all!
