From First to 2nd the gears are fine, when i try to shift into third it always either crunches and sometimes it grinds. Also sometimes 4th gets a lil bit crunchy is my clutch going out?

It's cheaper to replace the whole trans with a used one...they are $250-300, versus +$1000 for a rebuild.
Search for one near you: www.car-part.com

I'd rather not go "used" and just rebuild mine. Mine was "good used" till it started grinding...

Be glad its just 3rd and 4th for you. ALL the syncros in my KA trans are shot. Grinds every hard shift, every time. Good thing I've got that SR just waiting for some cash to be thrown at it before I install it.

okay so its my syncros, so is it better getting a new clutch or a new tranny. Also my car squeaks and i think its the bushings?

Only reason I suggest used is cost...you could buy a ~20,000 mile-old, perfect condition used trans for $400, versus $1000 for a rebuild...hell, even if that 1st used trans started to grind after a few years, you could buy another and still be $200 ahead.
BTW, what fluid are you using?

You clutch isn't causing your gears to grind, unless it's improperly adjusted...it's sychros most likely, and to fix that you'll need a new trans.

I'm so used to tranny parts costing so little, a full kit for my 300zx is like $190.. and $400 for a ae86 one.. pricing out one for the tranny on my ka24 was like "whoa".. I'll eventually go sr20 so I guess I'll live with it... I'm also using mobil 1 fluid...the car was drifted before I got it so i'd say it's been pretty beat on...

FYI...Mobil 1 fluid is GL4/GL5...so it's BAD for KA/SR transmisisons.
You need a GL4 ONLY fluid...if it also meets GL5, then it's not for you.
Redline is best, try MT90.
(Reason: GL5 has an additive that, combined with water (condensation) will corrode your brass sychros)

I have...it will only help somewhat. MT-90 turns to thin liquid on the track...

check the fluid in the clutch master cylinder. I had this same problem when my slave cylinder started leaking and eventually puked. If it is bad, when you change it make sure you take the closed loop box out of the clutch line when you do, takes 10 mins and makes the clutch feel that much more positive.

There's already been a thread with pretty much this same topic. Most guys in there are using Redline or this other one. Do a search under tranny fluid, actually it might also be in the chat section. It's late so my brain isn't working too well to remember exactly where it is. Anyways it's between Redline and this other one called Gm sycromesh but not any symcromesh it had a special feature or additive. Also another guy mentioned a pennsoil syncromesh, well ya'll get the point search for the thread to get the exact names.
