damn, you have to have really good coordination not to crash into someone during that shit. id be scared to shit if i saw a bus 5 inches away from me while im riding a 10 pound scooter
went there over the summer, thats exactly how it is.
there were alot of times i thought we were gonna get hit.. theres no lanes or anything. nobody really cares if you go into oncoming traffic

it would be soo awesomely funny to have a pike thrown at the front spokes of like, 5 bikes. Watch a chain reaction of collisions.

Well, kind of. except the fact that we do have lanes and it's a little more coordinated than that.
but it's more convenient to own scooters in taiwan that it is to own cars. parking is hazardous.
...i want a scooter

In the Philippines traffic lights are not really payed attention to and paramedics are hardly pulled over for.

My apollogies if you were offended, but it had nothing to do with asians. It had everything to do with the thread title RUSH HOUR in Taiwan. I don't know if you are aware of it or not, but Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker made 2 movies with RUSH HOUR in the title. I attempted to play off the thread title and movie title similarities. Never did it have have anything to do with racial stereotyping.

I was in VN last month. I couldn't cross the major streets without help when I just arrived. Give me a couple of days and I'm riding those mopeds everywhere. I drove my cousin's mercedes overthere going to Da Lat too. Those mopeds are so damn fun. I love the 2 stroke 125cc suzuki sport. Damn thing so fast and wheelies like there's no tomorrow. It's really fun if you're originally from VN. I got a friend who just return to US last week (i chilled with him in Saigon for 2 days), another friend still in VN, and one more guy going in 5 days, so jealous. Anyways, just ranting about how much I miss it. The good thing is that in the city, you can't really go that fast so accidents aren't usually fatal with moped....cars on the other hand.... Just don't drive like a dumbass and you ain't gonna die.

hahaha.....i'm not a commi. My cousin just knows how to do business. There's a bunch of Mercedes and BMW over there right now. I saw M3s and like 5 mercedes everyday in the city and the tax is like 200% for imported cars. Nicest car I saw there was a Porsche Cayenne. Oh yea, and I saw 10+ Mercedes driving through my hometown in a row with cops on both ends protecting it, turns out it was the prime minster (Phan *something* Khai), now that's a commi.

I was there from July 22nd to August 31st, I was 1 week late for school. Prior to this trip, the last time I was back there was 6 years ago in 1999. You guys are NOT gonna believe this, but I saw a riced out 240 overthere. I was shocked. It's probably the only one in the country. I was riding in the opposite direction so I counldn't turn around, it was a hatchback.

during my stay in VN i ended up seeing two accidents involving motorbikes.
i think one was a dump truck crushing the dudes head. his helment was crushed under the wieght of the truck. they left the body for a few hours cause they were looking for the family to transport it back to his home city.
second was at night time, i just saw the body not what happened.

i was back there like 9 months ago and the first cursing i did was " HOLY CRAP". the dude turned the corner without looking or stop and "almost" hit the taxi i was in. i prayed, and i mean i prayed, everytime i got on the back of that motorbike w the girl. ive never been more afraid to be on the road b4. when i got back to tx, i kissed the ground for making it back safe, not from the plane ride but from the traffic over there. :p
