View Full Version : UPS Claims....

So let me explain why UPS sucks as far as their claims go. All claims are done by the receiver and finished by the shipper.
I bought a Koyo radiator from a member on here by the name of "phats14". He said great condition, blah blah blah. Paid $240 for the radiator. When I received the radiator a nice damaged fin meant that it was leaking fluid like a faucet. He insured it for $300 and I did a damage claim.
1. UPS came and picked up my radiator.
2. UPS will have the shipper finish the claim.
3. UPS will send the damaged radiator back to the shipper.
4. UPS will send the check(money) to the shipper.
Phats14 has my money, has his radiator back, has the power to finish the claim and if he does so he gets the $300?
I have no money and no radiator. WTF is wrong with UPS? Plus this guy Phats14 mailbox is full so I cannot talk to him.

this is not a grief forum...
call them, and talk to a supervisor... keep making calls... once you become annyoing enough, they will solve the issue

Seriously. That is what happened to me. I bought an amp, that shit was "damaged" during shipment. I sent it back via UPS, fucking they don't give me shit. I got screwed, TWICE. What fags. I did get the amp, back, but meh... it's garbage anyhow. Paypal couldn't do anything, cause it took the shipper 30 days.

UPS sucks and costs more than fedex, thats why I switched a while back...
Now Im having problems though, I sent out a set of 5 lug hubs and buyer only recieved one. Looks like fedex claims is a little easier, it can be done online and either by shipper or reciever.

we only do fedex, ups if we have to
fedex is cheaper
but claims are the same pretty much anywhere, we go through it all the time. headache city, but it usually works out in the end.
good luck with it!

DHL
Been using them for a year now. No problems ever.
Shipped an Apexi exhaust from Maine to Florida insured for 23$.
Rear bumper to GA for 19$
Front lip to Cali for 20$
etc.....
Prices are the cheapest.
But I've never had to file a claim so I can't tell you how smooth that goes..

Claims can only be filed by the shipper. Thats why he get everything. What is supposed to happen is you call the seller tell them it is damaged. They send you another one and the money they collect from the claim pays for the item they sent you. I used to handle all of our freight claims at work and UPS is by far the worst. If its not packaged correctly per there tariff they will deny any claim.

This is what happens when an irregular package meets shitty packaging.
I work as a loader for UPS, and do you think all we do is kick your shitty packages around? We scan over 2,000 packages a night, and that's for one loader. So where's the time to throw around your packages? I have better things to do than play soccer with boxes. What I've been noticing during my tenure at UPS is that PEOPLE DON'T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT PACKAGING. That's what pisses me off; then people rant at how UPS sucks; who you should be blaming is the fucker who boxed up your radiator.
And since a radiator is a large irregular package, it wont be loaded until the rest of the other boxes are loaded. What does that mean? It means your radiator is brought DIRECTLY to the freight truck, not through a whole shitload of conveyor belts.
However, the only time a package will get damaged is when there is a jam on the conveyor belt, and since your radiator is too big to go through them, it wasn't damaged by a jam.
I'm sorry about your package, however, UPS came through and issued the refund. It's the shipper you need to bitch about, and not UPS.

I ship parts all over the planet with UPS and much of what bimmerlover says is true. On average we send maybe 100 packages a month and maybe 1 every other month gets damaged. Although we did have one come back so with a piston so damaged it must have taken a 40' drop to get it that way. The bottom of the oil ringland pushed the top ringland shut on a big diesel piston that was individually bubble wraped and bent a steel .33" thick wristpin. I had my insurance check in 7 days. Quite friendly.

ROFL I knew I would catch someone who worked at UPS.
Anyway, it was UPS's fault because there were two large puncture holes on the outside of the box. One made it allllll the way through the layer of bubble, the layer of foam and a layer of styrofoam to puncture one of the fins on the radiator. I'm not sure how you guys load and unload, but it was definitely damaged in shipping, all the packaging material was there otherwise I would bitch at the shipper.
Anyway, UPS sucks because claims are garbage. What if this guy Phats14 decides to say, "fuck you". I'm out my money and the package. He gets my money, the radiator back and the claim money. How the fuck does that work?

I hate UPS after the delivery guy dropped my coils on their heads. Even with the "THIS SIDE UP" crap all over the box.

You can see the box is listing to the right and luckily Tein packs their shit well. But not for when you drop shit on their sides.

Katrina arrived the same time my freakin package did and that is where its been sitting since, well floating since. Hell, its prolly out in the middle of the gulf. Bummer.....:(

I've been waiting on a lsd to come for over 30 days through UPS. I think its been delayed in some weird fashion ( i live in baton rouge), but its been sitting in illinois since august 25th.
If any of you UPS guys can pull some strings pm me haha...but for you other guys in defense for ups/fedex/dhl nobody is perfect, there are always shitty employees in any company

In that case, I'm sorry to hear about your package, but not every shipping company is perfect. For example, the rims you see in my signature, well only three came in while DHL lost the fourth rim. I called them numerous times and they basically gave me the runaround. Secondly, I bought concert tickets shipped by 1-Day FedEx.. needless to say, I got them the day after the concert. Ironically, I never had a problem with UPS.
I can assure you that it's nearly impossible to load packages while kicking them around. What I've noticed at UPS is that the actual conveyor belts fuck up the packages. When a box gets jammed, more pile up behind it, forcing the jammed package to basically get smashed. And let me tell you, this happens alot (especially the conveyors that go into Los Angeles trucks).
About your claim, not everyone who ships through UPS buys something from the internet. Imagine Starbucks shipping out a shipment of beans to one of their stores which gets fucked up during transit. Why would the store get a refund check? Then again, I'm not sure about how commerce works for Starbucks, but hopefully you see what I'm trying to point out.

So you expect "UPS" to actually handle evry package over a million, carefully and with the "this side up" I work at UPS and it gets shit load of packages. This is around peak season and double to triple the amount of packages are coming around now.
Yes, DHL, Fed Ex, are cheaper but tons of these other shipping companies still have to ship through UPS. They don't have the man power or have enough money/customers to be able to deliver to more locations than UPS. All I can say is get insured and bitch like a mofo. Since I work there I pick up my package at the warehouse, But that does not mean one day my shit wont be all messed up.

its all on phats14 to give you the money, not UPS, for they repay the person who sent it.

I use to ship a whole lot of crap before. I used UPS firts and never had a real problem. I then switched to FedEx, then to USPS. Now when i do any kind of shipping i just use usps. It's cheap, close and usually there are not long lines.
My only real rant against ups is when they drop off my shit. It will say on the website that my package is out for delivery at 7am in the mourning. When i get packages from ups i always get them a 7pm in the evening.
I dont like DHL for the same reason. Drop off was a day or two late, all the time. I hate that shit. If im recieving a packages i want it noWWWWWW!!!
Anyways with Fedex they are the only ones who make it out into my neighborhood around noonish. bravo to them.

My dinner table is on the other side of that window in that picture and I was having lunch when he dropped it off his shoulder onto the ground and against the widow sill with a loud bang almost shattered the window. When I opened the door he ran back to his truck and took off. I called the depot but unless they were broken there was nothing he could do to the guy.
