i call it a tension rod bracket. You could alwys upgrade to a Nismo powerbrace, or MickeyMouse powerbracing DIY style. It cleans up the slop steering.

If you have a s13 get a Nismo Power Brace. It replaces both tension rod brackets and is reinforced in the brackets and between the brackets. Huge difference felt on an s13.

Oh it does fail. Just replace it with some $5 dollar oem ones. I just got the nismo power brace instead of oem since i had the money for it at the time.

I don't think it'd function as those. I'd say it works as an enhancer of sorts.
IIRC, While driving, you've only got about 80% responsiveness with the wheel. Being as the TRB are seperate, it'd allow unwanted flexing and movement of the tension rods. By solidifying the braces with rigid panels and a bar, slop and flex are eliminated, increasing steering response to 90%+, depending.

Or maybe im just talkin out of my ass. One of those. :wiggle:

It doesn't create understeer. Chassis braces don't function like sway bars. They just strengthen the chassis so it doesn't lead to alignment changes due to it flexing. What sochbat said is true, other than the numbers he used. Cause he has nothing to back it up, it's more of an assumption.
