so i went out to lebanon valley dragway tonight with my autocross club. It turned out to be a pretty cold, being in the low 50's. My car has full 3 inch exhaust, no cat, FMIC intercooler, K&N intake, new kumho ecsta ASX on stock wheels (420 tread wear), and some other stuff that u can see in my sig.
my first pass i got a 14.5 with a 2.28 0-60', and 88.16 mph. the reason was that i stopped short of the lights. retarded, i know. my last run of the day i got a 14.1 with a 2.24 0-60', and 98.41 mph.
i haven't raised the boost on my car and i am a pretty decent shifter, but i may not have my launch down yet. anyway, i thought i would break into the 13.7 to 13.9 second range, and beat my friends 2000 camaro z28, but that didn't happen. had i set my goals a little too high? is this how fast i should expect to run? i just want to know if my car is running properly (performance wise).
thanks guys

60' sounds high, but im not a pro dragger...
best thing to do is get more seat time, this is true with any style of racing...
you WILL get better times, unless you have beginners luck :)

Try to get that 60' below 2 and some sticky tires. Other than that, looks good.

sounds about right. what, you were expecting to be fast out of a bpu upgraded 4 banger?

u're probably also getting sum lag/pressure drop from having a fmic at stock boost. with all those things u got bump up to 10 or something, with that u should be in the 13's. also i think hicas has a lil bit more weight.

yeah, i want to apologize for the double post, my internet died on me so i pressed twice in hopes that it would go through. won't happen again. thanks guys for the good input. i know i can't launch, but i am pretty sure i can shift well, atleast friends and enthusiasts say so :). i agree, i need more boost. i was trying to go for record stock boost whp, and possibly beat duey's s13 that laid down 215+ whp (correct me if the number is wrong).
my intercooler is simply to large for the amount of boost i am running. i have never experienced any heat soak, even on a 110 deg day. at 10 psi i will run a 13.7 possibly??? i am hoping for a 12.99 or better at 15 psi. who knows if it will happen, guess i just gotta try it out. this is not going to be a drag car but i want in the neighborhood of 350 to 400 whp with a gt2871r by next summer.

I ran the other day with similar results but worse 60 foots thank to my beautiful Michelin MXV4 plus'. 14.2 @99.6 with a 2.33 60 foot was the best possible. S13 fastback, Blitz FMIC, red top sr20det, stock turbo outlet but full 3'' beside that, heavy ugly Enkei wheels, aluminum driveshaft, s15 HLSD, Spec 6 puck ceramic, Fidanza aluminum flywheel. For me the temps were in the 95's with 100plus track temp and roughly 70% humidity. Tis life in Florida when you go to the strip on a saturday test and tune at 10am-3pm.

u had the aluminum driveshaft, lightweight flywheel and good clutch, i think that makes up for the temp difference :D

try dropping your rear tire pressure pretty significantly if your spinning. then slip the clutch off the line. should help your 60' dramatically. not to shabby at all for a first timer. i remember how intimidating it is the first time. good job.

hmm i never said it was my first time :naughty: first time with this car, yes, first time drag racing, no. i raced my previous car which was a MK3 Supra turbo, and it ran a 14.2 at 96 if i remember correctly. anyway, thanks for the props. i guess i should be happy with the time. i expected too much. my rear tire pressure on all of my runs was 30 psi, probably should have lowered it more. oh well... :drama:

ive gotten 13.2 on 13psi and 215/40/17 nankang ( shitty ass tires). Ofcourse that inlcudes Greddy FMIC k&N Fiter, 3inch downpipe, no cat, and apex'i N1 cat back. Kazz 2-way LSD.

what tire pressure were you running?
what kind of suspension do you have? is it adjustable? How stiff was the rear vs the front?
Play with the air pressure in your tires. I'm guess stock air pressure is somewhere in the neighborhood of 40psi. Drop it down to 30psi, see how she goes. I would not go too low, of course, since that could be a little dangerous at the end of the track (stability and speed).
On a STOCK sr20, you are looking at a mid-14 second car. Thats just the way the engineers designed it. But, we all know that a stock SR20 can handle more boost. So, thats why you see a lot of these guys saying high to mid 13's on stock SR20's. They really mean stock with upped boost.

^^^^stock tire pressure is 32 but is dependent on current tire size. I dropped mine down to 21 for the fuck of it and wasnt getting anymore help I think
