whats up guys, i just drove her home, shes a 91 SE 5pd, i've had all mustangs up until this point and really love driving this thing, threw it sideways a few times...liking it a lot so far..but
NO dash light, odometer, or speedometer?? the tach works fine, the previous owner told me that the HUD use to work intermittently, then only worked when the car was really hot...then quit altogether... As far as I've researched the HUD is the problem and I need to replace it...I've checked all fuses and all visiible grounds, and the wires to the speed sensor... all appeared ok. any input greatly appreciated.

my hud doesn't work, only intermietietntitenly, but my odo still works, everything works jus the speedo doens't pop up, well maybe once in awhile but yeah, one time my odo didn't work cause the gear thing that spins the odo wasn't working, i replaced it with another lil gear motor from another cluster, used the one from a analong cluster, had to splice some lines since they both had diff plugs, and one time it wasn't working cause the gear on the odo popped out, jus had to pop it back in place

old problem; couple solutions. check 240sx.org.
problem was hud not coming on without alot of heat.
The HUD units in Nissans can suffer from cracked or dry solder joints on a couple of ceramic printed circuit boards inside the HUD dash. They can be fixed. I've done it. I would recomend you take the units to someone who can RELIABLY re-flow solder surface mount type circuit boards. I have offered before to fix units in Australia for minimal cost, if someone with the skills in the US wants to do it just drop me an email and I'll tell you what to look for inside and you can do them.

you can also swap over to need gauges, or replace the hud control unit. My friend decided just to replace the control boards and hasnt had a problem since. A bit pricey, but solved the problem right off.

i dont recall where i found the page, but there is a capacitor that goes bad, its as common as the drivers seat bolster ripping in the S13's. I cant tell you in great detail how to fix it, but, I can get you the page. Let me do some research and I'll get back to you.

thanks a lot man, i'll be pulling the cluster out friday and taking a look at the wiring, i mean i can't screw it up any worse than it already is. just so i don't get accused of not doing a search...i've done a lot on this too and seems the most common is the hud crappin out. just wanted to ask before replacing.
