I know people are resistant 2 change or new ideas, but i thought this was pretty innovative by the STS people. Rear mounted turbo for ya 240sx check it out.

Search around. This has already been discussed when someone posted pics of a friends new GTO with the kit installed. I thinks it's an interesting idea if you don't mind your turbo being stolen by someone with a hacksaw.

Sounds like a big prob. But i'm sure it can be easily solved. A turbo case maybe?? I mean how often to catbacks get jacked. A thief is a thief not 2 sound like a smartass buts thats y i have insurance and keep receipts. I was thinking of track days in my case. I have a 510 that rarely leaves my driveway (mainly case the engine bays empty!!). I would try it just 2 be diff. Their kit is way to costly. I'm sure custom setups come soon.

no. total trash. worst idea ever. trying things to be different is the most fucktarded thing ever. hay guyz im gonna do somthing shitty because noone else does it (because its shitty). seriously that will be the laggiest thing ever. 510 exhaust is NOWHERE close to a v8. also drawing air from right behind the rear tire is a really cool place to get it from when its wet outside. hope you got some yosimete sam flaps.

im not sure how it would be for 4 bangers but i rode in a V6 camaro with it. Im honestly impressed with it. No intercooler, just piping. Only downside with the whole thing thats a pain in the ass is the whole oil return crap. I mean traditionally, you dont have to worry bout the oil goin back to the engine since gravity will take over but for this, you need a another oil pump to push the oil back to the engine.

Do you think it is shitty idea in general, or just on a 240? Because in general, it's not that bad of an idea. You ever see a modern camaro engine bay? There is about zero room to add a turbo system, and the engine sits halfway under the dashboard. On a 240, I agree, it is dumb, because there is plenty of room in the 240 engine bay

One of the most important factors to spooling a turbo efficiently, and quickly is heat. How much heat do you think is left after 10' of piping?
I'm with chmercer, worst idea ever. Just because it works, and makes the car fast doesn't mean it's good. Same amount of money and fab into a SC or turbos within 1-2' of exhaust ports would make it much much faster. Much more efficient.
there's a reason nobody does it. because it sucks.

You'd be surprised how well this works for big V8 trucks...
I don't think it's a good idea for any modern 4-cyl...we have too much spare room under the hood, only need one manifold, etc, etc...
But for a LS-based motor in a narrow engine bay, where you CAN"T just hang a turbo off each side of the motor and be done...it's a good idea.
The ones I've seen spool faster than my KA-T with a T3/T4 (~3500 or so)...for example, a guy in Orlando has a 6.7liter (408ci) stroker LQ9 (basically an iron block/heads LS2 motor) with a cam and an STS setup on a Silverado SS (AWD)...at 8psi it did 440awhp and 14psi did 595awhp and 693awtq...on the shakedown run, UNTUNED.
For comparison, a normal 408 motor would do close to 400awhp when tuned properly.
His is an upgraded STS kit with a GT70 turbo...daily driven, BTW.
So it's cool for trucks and GTO's as long as you size the tubo appropriately...but kinda uneeded on a 240SX.

everyone has already said what i have to say
rear mounted turbo=retarded on anything that nissan has ever produced (maybe on the titan it could work)
Has anyone checked the condition of most catbacks on lowered 240's?
Now just imagine dragging your turbo housing/oil lines over every speedbump/driveway/rock/crack addict on the street. makes me wince just thinking about it. :tweak:
