I am attempting to ship a transmission, but do not know which carrier to go through, if anybody has any ideas I would really apreciate it. Thanks.

R&L Freight, Roadway, or Yellow.

I've never shipped using them directly, only through a middle man or receiving parts.
I had a full sets of seats sent R&L from a yard in Arkansas, delivery took about 9 days from date of sale, carton was packed well and strapped to a pallet. I used Roadway to ship a door but the buyer had an account, I just dropped it off at a terminal. He seemed pleased with it after it arrived.

I'd call all three and get quotes, since a transmisison has fluids you'll need to seal it up or they won't accept it, but otherwise it can go open on a pallet or even in an old trash can.
Make sure to compensate a few pounds for the pallet also when getting a weight figure.
