Ok, I have to get my Arizona plates and since this area makes you do emissions before getting registration here.. I have to make sure my car can pass. I took it to Nissan yesterday because my check engine light has been on constantly for a few months. I figured it was the o2 censor, but of course, Nissan told me that I should clean the fuel injectors. So, I had that done.. not that I care. It needed to be done anyway. The check engine light was off for an hour or two and came back on again.

The mechanic told me my car was throwing out some ICP code and some transmisson head code. It had something to do with second gear. He told me that in order to see if the speedometer head could be causing it (???) he said I would have to pay $450 and $300 labor just to see if that's the problem. I was like, hell no.

So, what I'm trying to figure out.. what exactly could be causing the problem incase it's not the o2 censor? We're going to take the 240 and see if it will pass emissions or not before messing with it anymore. If it fails, we're going to take care of the o2 censor. I threw a cold air intake and exhaust on my car and was wondering if that could be messing with the check engine light as well?

Please help me, because I am totally clueless.

What exactly is the code? Have you tried self diagnosting
the computer? Let us know what the code is and we'll help
from there.

if you are getting codes from the transmission the car will still pass smog, they can not fail you just because the CEL is on. when they plug into the consult port it will show that the codes are not emissions related and the smog test can go on however they do them in Arizona.

download the FSM and pull your codes. the FSM will have a list of how to pull it, how to read the code, and what problem it corresponds to.

after that, pull out a multimeter and get to checking whatever sensor(s) its complaining about. the FSM will have instructions on how to do that as well.

there should be a link to a FSM somewhere on zilvia. search for it.

good luck!
