SI: Helical LSD, 197hp out of the box, 8000rpm redline. http://www.edmunds.com/apps/vdpcontainers/do/vdp/articleId=107050/pageNumber=1?synpartner=edmunds&pageurl=www.edmunds.com/new/2005/honda/civic/100519761/roadtestarticle.html&articleId=107050&tid=edmunds.e.roadtest.content...Honda*

tC: no LSD, 160hp.

SI will cost more to buy, but will have more performance. If you just want an appliance with a little style, go with tC. If you want performance in your commuter, go with SI. As for outward apperance, the SI tops tC, but looks are subjective.

btw: the epa ratings for each car is 22/31 for the SI and 22/29 for the tC. not much difference in mpg.

i think the si as well, it has a timing chain and a maf sensor as well so us nissan guys know whats going on with all of this.personly i think scions are made really cheap.

go with the Scion tC + factory supercharger! It'll cost less than the Civic Si, be faster, plus look nicer!

The tC handles like crap. Try to fix that with money. Go with the Si and you will be happier.

go with the SI. TC's are over rated. Seen some Tc owners and they seem kinda cocky imao.

Civic SI you dumby. How could a TC get worse gas mileage as well when it is rated at 40less hp? Power is basically how much air your engine can move and the more air it can move the more fuel it does as well. SI will definitely get worse gas mileage

i think probrably the v-tec helps. And the 2 liter instead of what? Camry powered 2.4 on the tc?

just get a basemodel corolla or something. they're reliable and great on gas. save the money for the 240

i was down this road, get something used, why buy a BRAND new car anyway? i paid 11k for my spec v with 30k on it. 6spd, helical LSD, fun to drive good on gas, warranty till 75k. Seems like a better idea if you wanna keep spending money on the 240

edit: hey look at that your in my neck of the woods =]

I can see buying a new car in college, warranty, reliability, etc. personally I'd say go with whichever has the best warranty but if they are both even and comparably priced go with the SI IMHO.

Which I dont understand at all since it would fight against a Scion so incredibly well

Nah, just get away from performance compacts altogether. Find a nice used Altima or Maxima with the v6. A full size sedan is a nice change over from a small perfomance compact. Trust me I know... going from the Sr'd s13 on Teins to our Maxima on 19's is like night and day... I love the extra space, automatic tranny and so do the girls... My gf's can only take soo much back pain and leg cramps before they start complaining about the 240. Even my 350z was too small a car...and I'm only 5'7"!!!
