Hey guys... I was planning on buying a turbo from a guy on zilvia.net that was new but he backed out, so now I'm looking for a nicely priced T3/T4 for the turbo set up...
I found this http://www.turbocalculator.com/sale-garrett.php ... I was planning on getting the t3/t04e 57trim they have for 449.
Has anyone dealt with these guys? Are they ok? or is this turbo going to explode two weeks after it's on?
Thanks

Search around a little bit, I highly do not recommend them. There used to be some posts about them selling a turbo to a guy who had it crack right around the circumference of the compressor. The compressor seemed to be made of two pieces and glued together.
I tried to order a T3/T04 50trim 48 A/R and a 38mm tial waste gate from them, slightly off-standard but not that much.
-Firstly they charged my credit card immediately upon placement of the order, practically all other places I have dealt with charge you at the time of shipment.
-After a month of no contact I phoned them, you have to do that only between the hours of 5:00 and 7:00 pm and whoever runs that place does not respond to messages, they were awaiting parts to build my "custom" turbo.
-After three months of them still waiting for parts, I cancelled the order for the turbo but could not cancel the waste gate since they already got that in stock for me. I bit the bullit and accepted the waste gate while they credited me back the charge for the turbo, at least it was a real tial.
The rumor is that their "Garrett" turbos are not made from Garrett parts.
One thing for sure, their turbos are remanufactured with who knows what kind a quality. Honestly spend and extra $170 and get a new one from Phoenix Turbohttp://store.yahoo.com/cheapturbo/gat357trw63a.html

Couldn't have put it any better myself /\ /\ /\ Their quality is HIT and or MISS. Some are great, and some are XS Power Great lol
I ALMOST bought a Tial Knockoff from that site...I luckily caught that it was a 'Tial Style' at checkout. I immediatly went to NoLimitMotorsport.com and got one instead!!
One of my best friends has a TurboCalculator turbo on his 01 GTI VR-6 Turbo....and It was a nice turbo, that had no shaft play, with at least garrett housings and the same wheel as mine on the altima. He's boosted 14/15 pounds now for an entire summer with NO problesm (and rest assured that thign pulls like a freakin animal!!)
Another friend of mine got his after Kenny (the turbo vr) and his was a complete shit snail. Shaft play, unknown housings and all. He returned it, but had to pay shipping (cut his losses). He went right to CheapTurbo.com (which is now Phoenix Turbo.com) and got his for damn near the same price!

Point of correction here: the wastegates they sell are actually made by Tial, not tial style. The wastegate I recieve abeit late, was boxed and packaged instructions and all by Tial.

Know a guy that bought a t3/t04 from them and when it came the compressor wheel wouldn't even spin.... then he could not ever get in touch with them (don't answer phonecalls or e-mails) so he could not even get it covered by their warranty they say they have.....
Screw turbocalculator.

Thats a SSAC turbo that did that and the "new" 57trim that the og poster is looking at is not a garret but a knockoff.

yep, but IIRC that turbo they sell was the same deal with the sandwiched together compressor housing like the XS Power ones.

the 57 trim in general is not a very effecient turbo. Also most of the turbos they sell do NOT come with the 360 degree race bearing needed to run serious boost without going boost.
When buying a turbos we stick to the best. Precision Turbo all the way!

unless noted in the turbos description i beleive that the t3/t4's from Cheap turbo are also 270 bearings and not the 360.
