I just bought my 1995 240, it's an SE 90,000 miles, black leather, great deal. The temperature gauge worked the first night I drive her, the car actually got very hot because the electric fan wasn't grounded properly, and I fixed that and now it works. Anyways the temperature gauge doesn't work so tried a few things. It started working for about an hour and went up to the middle of the C and then just stayed there even after sitting overnight. So I unplugged the wire going to the sensor, then I grounded the wire and the gauge went up and down like it should when it was grounded, so I know it's not the gauge or wire, or at least it shouldn’t be that. So I replaced the temperature sensor and still it won’t read. Is there anything else I need to check to see if it will work?

You have coolant in hte system right? I know it sounds dumb, but if there isn't any coolant, the gauge won't read anything. If not, look into a FSM to see how you test the gauge.

Yeah there is plenty of coolant in the system. The car runs great, the fan comes on, the guage just doesnt read.

The connectors in the plug may be worn. Try giggling it around. You may be able to get a new connector at NAPA or the dealership. If not there you could get one from a junkyard. Good luck.
