so i decided to strip my interior and did it the old fashion way with a hammer and a chizzle. well long stroy short i sanded it down and it came out pretty clean. the whole dry ice thing was just taking way to long so i just started chipping away. well then came deciding what color to paint my interior. i started with a duplicolor high temp black since i know near the tranny it tends to get hot and i dint wanna deal with repainting the interior but the paint wasnt sticking well at all. so then my friend suggested using the stuff they use in the back of trucks to make it rough. the spray stuff. sounded like a good idea but that stuff doesnt stick eithery. now i have a sprayed up interior and need to put more time taking the crap paint and stuff off. can anyone suggest a good paint to use inside. preferably in a can :)? oh and that paint stuff for the truck smells real bad like tar so that wasnt cool either. anyways thanks guys.

could be your prep work, you dont' want to sand too smooth or the paint won't stick too the surface too well

wut he said ^, try using a lower grit to make the surface more coarse for adhesion...and i was always under the impression that rhino lining/bed lining stuck to anything...same goes with engine enamel...i dont see why it wouldnt adhere to the surface...

you gotta make sure your prep is done properly, like the others have said...

ive stripped out a few interiors and used the roll on bed liner stuff, and it worked fine (i did a great job with prep work)

any spraypaint that will bond to metal will work fine as well

proper prep work includes removing all the old stuff and sanding it down, plus you need to use something like acetone to get rid of everything else and make sure to use a clean oil free rag to remove any excess stuff

also make sure to do it in a well ventilated area on a shady day, and make sure its not raining and not too hot out

ill remember that but yeah its weird. it dint stick. i mean its so bad i can rub off the paint and the truck lining stuff with my fingers. actually the prep work wasnt that bad some places i put a lot of work into others i left as it was and both places i got negative results. also how about that tar smell. should i just use paint or go with the truck liner stuff agian? this is exactly what i used duplicolor black high temp and the dupli color undercoat

question though the heat around the tranny is that enough heat where the paint will come off if i dont use something high temp? thats y i started with the high temp i dint wanna risk it

dont even bother with high temp.... just paint it... itll stick... just prep it good if theres bare metal ur gonna need some etch prime... for adhesion

your car's interior will smell for a while with either the bedliner stuff or the spraypaint...

it just takes time for it to all air out

i like the bedliner stuff, it weighs almost the same as paint, but it has urethane chunks and i *think* that it added a little bit of sound deadening, plus its a bit more durable, and has great grip for your feet

post up some pics when you are done :)

Try using Etching Primer. Make sure the surface is clean from oils.

transmission tunnel doesn't get hot enough to need high-temp paint.

ok well the whole day i gave a shot taking the liner and paint off with no luck. i tried acetone. dint even phase taking the paint off, then i went to the hardcore air craft paint remover and it just make it liquidy and when i tried wipping it off it only smeared. so than is my only alternative sanding it down to bare metal?!?

increase the grit as you sand
