I am building my car up to 400rwhp and plan on it seeing mostly the drag strip and a few drift/autocross events will an LSD out of the 300/J30 be sufficient or should I go with KAAZ/Cusco?

Also If an aftermarket LSD is the best choice who has the best price for them?

Get a VLSD out of a 180SX, cheap and a better gear ratio than the J30. Unless you like doing 150mph in 4th gear.

My 180SX VLSD works great and has the stock gear ratio.

Nismo street should do the job nicely. I wouldnt f with a viscous at those power levels

thats true... but what is he going to do more, autox or drift? If you wanted a nice autox LSD he probably would want to go with a helical instead of a clutch type... whereas if he was going to drift more than he would want to go with the clutch type... if its not too big a deal to you, then go with the vlsd... you will probably have to change the fluid more often from what i hear... although the vlsd is crap compared to any aftermarket lsd, it may suit your needs better than a helical or clutch type...

but im just learning here too so other people should probably add their input...

vlsd is extremely cheap, and a great all-around diff. it works great on the street, as it doesnt lock up as hard and fast as aftermarket clutch type. i dont know how well it will hold up to 400hp, but if it goes out in a couple of years, ur not out much money.

for a little more, the hlsd from like an s15 silvia is awesome. they are great for autox, and work fine for drag racing. dont know about drifting.

clutch types are great for drag and drifting, but not the best on the street because they lock up hard, fast and noisily.

there are many more types of diff's. research them and find out what is best for you.

The only reason I did not recommend a helical is because I dont know of anyone using them for 400whp. I'm sure some do it but I dont know how well they held up, good I'm sure. I went with the s15 diff but I'm only going for 300whp
