Gentlemen,
Here's my situation. My 240 (stock KA24E) has had overheating issues as of late. The car hasn't been driven since I went to Iraq in February, and I just started driving it again last week. The car was maintained while not being driven (started regularly, fluids checked, etc). When the overheating issues began, I replaced the water pump and thermostat. Before replacing the pump and thermo, the car would run normally and then the temp gauge would spike.
Here's what makes me think it's the headgasket: the white smoke from the exhaust at normal operating temperatures, and the lovely smoke-filled bubbles coming out of my overflow tank. Also, as a side note, the oil is still clean. Now my question is, is there something I'm overlooking, and if not, what does a headgasket replacement cost/entail? Any help would be appreciated; I'd really like to have this fixed before I go back to Iraq on the 16th. Thank you.

I've had very similar problems. I changed out the headgasket/head myself but I got a quote from a mechanic friend of mine and he was thinking around atleast $1000.
