i'm getting a s14 for around 4100 it's a non-se but all power, ac, stock cd,pretty much all se options except 5 lug, fog lights etc..., also i would say it's in really good condition, is it worth it to get a non 5 lug s14 or not cause my only concern is that i'm not gonna find another s14 very soon since it was hard enough finding my s13 (live in small town)? im just kinda confused whats the big disadvantage of the 4 lugs, are they weaker? Do any of you guys know of at least 1 good 4 lug wheel that has "good" offset/ sizing i mean the option to get skinnier in the front and wider in the back?
I know this question has been asked alot but i'm just on the edge of buying this s14 and i don't know if i should get it... any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Also did any of the non-se s14's come with the vlsd?
and i did search as always. thanks.

4 lug wheels that come in staggered sizing. FNO1R-C. 4 lug sucks only for wheel sizing and styles. But 4100 seems alot, how many miles does this S14 have?

ok, well at least i know its resonable but about the 4 lug thing is it really nessesary to upgrade if you do find a good set of wheels in 4 lug? the 5 lug hype is all about the selection in my understanding, am i correct?

if you're going to use the car as a daily driver/ weekend warrior, 4 lug will be just fine. the advantage of 5 lug is that u have a wider choice of wheels as well as brake upgrades, but you can always redrill brake upgrades to 4 lug.
Id say go for it... not a lot of female ownded 240's around anymore...
good luck

yea, i guess i can worry about upgrades later since i'm still in highschool. once i'm out i'll have some more funds. :fart:
cool, thanks for all the replys.

I'd buy the car if I were you. 4-lug isn't too bad. Just get FNO1rs. Haha

i dont think letting the five lug convo or any mod for that matter decide whether or not to get a car is very wise...we havent seen it, but if its as clean as you say then get it...dont pass it up cuz you dont wanna go five lug...its easier and cheaper for s14s to go five anyway...

Yeah +1 on getting the car. 4100 isn’t too bad. Just make sure its a manual and the right color you want. I would never pay 4100 for an auto. Also Falken makes the Hanabi's which are a pretty decent 4 lug wheel that’s cheap too. I don’t think they look too bad but others might disagree. Like someone said, it all depends on what you wanna do with your car. And I believe Lsd's only came on certain se models so your gonna have to buy your own. Probably the first "mod" I would do before rims.

There are a good amount of great looking, well fitting options for 4 luggers now adays like the Grenade GX01s.

Aspec Products sells them, and Logan and the rest of the Aspec guys are great people.

imo 4100 is expensive for a s14 with 140k+ on it
i got mine 3 years ago for 4300 with something like 85k on it.

swapping to 5-lug on an s-14 is CHEAP.. do not be disuaded by the 4-lug.

by cheep you mean cheeper than on the s13s? Also thanks agian for the replys, it's kinda a gray purplish color, but the purple isn't really over whelming so i don't mind. i think a tint would complement it really good. i'll get pics up in a sec, just gotta take them.

yeah, i have never researched this (i have an se), but i believe you need far fewer parts, like only the hubs.
S13 requires much more stuff being replaced.
if the chassis is straight, no problems, etc, then go for it.
No sunroof and no spoiler = awesome, i'd love to have had that
cost me extra to have my trunk holes filled and painted, and i hate my sunroof for helmet clearance

yeah, all you need is hubs, rotors, and wheels (of course)...oppossed to s13s which need s14 LCAs with balljoints or expensive aftermarket hubs or stock hubs with sleeves...it gets pretty creative...and on top of that, rotors and wheels...

i hate my s14 for being base and having a sunroof...but i love my spoilerless lid...i like em smooth and shaved...

well, i would want a spoiler, but not that crappy stock s14 one, and the jdm k's uses 2 different holes.
Can I have your roof?

actually mine is base with sunroof, it's kinda funny because its base with almost everything like a se. here's a link to the pics.s14 pics (http://www.zilvia.net/photo/showgallery.php?ppuser=37630&cat=500&password=c6ff892f8987a1104143cb0df8328e1d)
i actually like the sunroof though becuase i just like to cruise with it open, and the only competitiveness i'll have is draging probably since where i live theirs no drift events. but looking at the service records the lady got it serviced at the nissan dealership every time, nissan oil filter on there, ect... so it was taken care of pretty well i presume. check out the pics and tell me what you think, i don't have pics of the interior but there is no damage just a little scubing to do. did all the s14's come with abs or no?
OptionZero
09-09-2005, 07:55 PM
no tehy did not. ABS is great for the rain but some people do not like it for performance reasons.
I have non-ABS and I have had no problems (At least, none that weren't the fault of shitty driving on my part).
Slap good pads on the stock s14 brakes and it's more than enough for DD/hard driving

I would buy it if I were you with the way Resale is sky rocketing on s13's and s14's I would defenitely get what you can while you can. Besides 5 lug conversions arent that hard to do it yurself for under $200 in parts.

Deffinitly get it, cool color, and if it has been well maintained you should be all set. Price may be a little high but if you dont see many around that can lead to the slight price inflation.
No need for 5 lug, all you need is nice pads (hawk, EBC or similar) SS lines, new blank rotors and the 17x9 FNs all the way around. Its plenty for DD and track duty, hurry up and buy this thing!

Color is Concord Gray, paint code LN1. Extremely rare, only offered in 95 and only on the S14. My first car was that color, I loved it.
In 95 the base models had the option of nearly everything except the 'SE' stuff, so it was possible to get the 6speaker CD, antitheft with keyless, ABS/VLSD, sunroof, etc. on a base model. $4100 for a well maintained fully optioned base is a good price since it's a rare find.

5-lug swap is very easy on the S14. I dunno about cheap though, I guess it's all relative to your budget. For my brother's car it cost $880 for a 5-lug conversion. $500 for the 5-lug hubs, $80 Rotors+Pads, and $300 for a set of the SE wheels with tires.
$4100 is a good price, my brother got his base model '95 in Feb. of 2003 for $5000 with about 102k miles.
My '96 SE cost me $7000 with 98k miles and it was in immaculate condition.

ok, 2 last questions. how would i set up fog lights it i wanted to buy some, i mean are all the 95-96 s14's wired for the fog lights or is there a bunch of wiring you have to do to make them work properly? also the lip that everyone buys is the greddy front lip right, i have only found it at one place i think, excluding ebay, where have those who own the lip gotten theirs from?
Rich_S14

Not sure if the base model comes with the fog light wiring, but it wouldn't be hard to make your own switch. You can buy all the stuff at radio shack (switch, wiring, relay). I believe that all of the zenki S14s do have the mounting brackets for the fog lights though.

Base models are fully wired for fogs. Buy the lights, switch, and relay, and plug them all in. Literally 10 minutes total.

yeah, just get the wheels and new rotors at the same time as swapping the knuckles. and 4100 isn't bad as long as its in good in good condition.

heres a whole bunch of pictures from when i did my 4lug->5lug swap, including redrilling my 4 lug brembos rotors i had, the swap was pretty damn easy

Well I got taken I paid 8500 for basemodel mine had a little less then 100k on the odomiter. But Im in for 5lug for the choice of wheels and brakes. Although companys have been listening to us wine about the wheel selection and gave us some good wheel sizes.
