A few guidelines:

1) No RCA/Proscan/GE or any other Thompson Electronics brand

2) 32" or more, $300-600.

3) Has an Electronic Program Guide. RCA uses "Guide+", and I'm sure there's a few other models out there that use an EPG. I'm just having trouble googling it, because the word 'guide' spawns shit-tons of useless sites. So I'm hoping someone out there works at a tv shop, or any chain that sells televisions, and can recommend a good one for me.

My 3 year old RCA just died on me..

I just bought my parents a Hitachi 52" DLP. It's awsome, they love it. From what the salesman said, Sony's quality isn't that great, unless you buy their super expensive stuff. Then again, they're still not that great. You can get a pretty nice TV in the range of what you're looking for.

If you're looking for something, I'd recommend Hitachi or Panasonic.

if you're buying a tv now, get something that is HDTV ready and widescreen. SDTV is not a great investment at this time. all tv stations are shutting down SDTV signals in a few years.

I'm telling you get a Sony Grand Wega and HD cable service. I think RCA is the only one to still use that gimpy guide system. Hell, Get a Tivo and use the guide off that.

Panasonic has some of the better looking flat TUBE tv's I've seen. The Sony Wega's aren't worth the money IMO unless you're buying the Grand Wega XBR's but those are too expensive. A good cheaper brand is Sanyo. I still have my 32" Sanyo that I bought when I was 15. So about 5years ago.
