View Full Version : Boring, practical, question: fold down seats?

My poor '90 HB is starting to rust past the point where I think it's a good idea to keep her around. Or at least, past the point where putting any money into it to fix the other shit that's wrong with it isn't worth it. It's a real bummer

Anyways, long story short I'm looking into a new 240SX. I have to move a lot of stuff so the hatchback is the best option, but it's hard to find ones in the condition that I want. I think I could do an S13 or S14 coupe, if the seats folded down completely like they do in the hatch.

So what's the deal? Do the seats fold down all the way in the S13 coupe and S14?

Also, is the S14's trunk any bigger than the S13's?

The S14 seat fold down but it really doesnt help much at all. And the trunk really isnt spectacular either. If your gonna haul shiet, i say stick with the fastback.

s13 hatch is by far the winner, but ive seen the s14 fit 6 wheels/tires

at least it has the pass through so you're better off than not

Wow, been around since 2002 and you've never seen the back of a S13 Coupe or a S14. That's craziness!!

Back on topic: The S13 FB is the best when it comes to room to haul stuff. The seats fold down in the Coupe, but it doesn't really provide you with that much more room. The last time I moved, I just pulled the whole back seat out. That gave me some decent room.

I have, I just never looked or paid attention to see if they fold down or not. I've been paying a lot more attention to music and my motorcycle lately, then all of a sudden my 240 dumps a giant chunk of rust on the ground, making it new car time. :(

Anyways, I don't really carry anything tall, but my basses don't fit in the trunk when they're in the hardshell, I have to put them in front to back. So if the S13 coupe has a fold down seat that'd probably be fine.

Luckily I'm not playing much upright bass nowadays, that thing fits perfectly in the hatch when you lay it on its back.

edit: FUCK. I just saw in an ebay auction what an S14 looks like with the seat down, and that passthrough is TINY, definitely not big enough to pass a pair of basses through. Anyone have any pictures of what the passthrough on a S13 coupe looks like?
