yup, I think a lot of Nissan enthusiasts are gonna be pissed... but whatever
personally I couldn't justify spending 1500 + on a set of Authentic wheels when you can spend that money elsewhere.

whats everyone else think

Rota's are a Philippine brand. I remember my uncle used to work for them back there. He said the quality wasn't very good. Alot of their rims, they just melted down anything metal they can find, and they would make the wheels you see today. I wouldn't trust riding on Rotas.

i have uras which are pretty much nismo LMGT4 knock offs.... 250 a pop atleast i know they are made in japan and of decent quality. not EVERYONE can get forged 3 piece rims so i think its not bad to buy a cheaper rim but i wouldnt want to sacrafice TOO much quality for looks. but uras makes good quality parts so im confident with my purchase. id probly just spend my $ on uras and stay away from something made in a 3rd world country. even if they are dirt cheap

Word.

I'm serious though, he told me this around 2 weeks ago. VERY reasurring to know that the rims you are rolling on were made from a combination of spoons, forks, knives, cans, scrap metal, etc, etc, etc.. :coold:

I was at my friends shop. He is a rota dealer (www.wheeldude.com). He had one of these wheels there it was a proto sample and it was hot. If I was five lug I would get some.

Taiwan and China hardly qualify as 3rd world countries. Taiwan is on the same level as Japan and the USA and China is a developing country, soon to be up there with everyone else.

As for the Rotas, they'd look better if they actually had the concave spoke design.

I just wish Rota would design their own wheels, people WOULD buy them. Frickin bastards always having to make something that is similar to someone elses

i dont own rota's. im guessing that my next set of wheels for my civic are the rota sprint hart knock offs. white with polished lip. only on the civic though. i dont think its worth spending alot of cash on wheels like people do on their civics. what i mean is, buying volks or some works in 15-16 inch for my damn honda. just seems stupid. generally all the wheels are relatively the same size. and the wheels are bought and sold through out a community. i have a gold/bronze set of wheels for my civic that have been through like 4 kids locally. im rolling on koseis that i got off some kid that totalled his civic. it just seems the only way to go when having a honda. the "look" gets old real quick. so you trade wheels with a buddy, whallah! you've got a new look for a couple months. then you trade wheels with another buddy to get a new look. its common. haha. funny though.

geeez....

i swear everytime you think you've got something original, then some company turns around and knocks it off and then everybody and they're mom has it. I know you cant really do "original" stuff to our cars anymore, but C'MON. How many lmgt4 knock offs are they gonna come out with!?

Wow, lets all be cheap and buy Rota's like every single kid driving a honda does with the mugen knockoffs by rota. Rotas suck, and i only say this on the basis of, them putting like 5 mins of effort into their wheels, Nissan probably designed those wheels for a good amount of time, and spent tonz of money on R&D, just for Rota to jump onto the Drifting bandwagon and say hey, lets make a set of rims for kids, or adults, with 240's so they can stop bitching that we only make rims that are based off of ugly civic rims. Wheels should honostly be the last thing that is done to a car, IMO, you could do alot more with that money than make the car look good. But im not against it if you want to, just as long as u just save up and get the real thing, it's just the same as those new A'pexi counterfit TT, cept rota isn't claiming that they designed it. That's just my 2 cents.

12-14-2005, 10:36 PM
I don't see how being cheap has anything to do with buying wheels. Rota's are simply an affordable option and they are nice wheels. How can one say there is only 5 minutes of effort put into a wheel when any company out there has to make a mold, produce the wheel, and then get it packaged up for delivery. For those who want an aggressive setup like the new P45F/R, it will serve great function. A 9.5 wide wheel is very functional if you ask me and there's a bonus, the P45R looks amazing. So you get both looks and function... and with your statement "you could do alot more with that money than make the car look good" so instead of spending a lot on wheels you can get a nice affordable option and have money left over for more mods.

Thats just my opinion on it all....

Also, you should know that nissan spent less than 5 minutes R&Ding the LMGT4, because those wheels are built by Rays Engineering, using the same technique that was used to create all of their forged monoblock wheels. So Rota actually spent more time creating this wheel than nissan did with their Nismo counterparts. Dont be such a bandwagon jumper Punxva

why would wheels be the last thing you do to car. Would you drop a lot of cash building a motor then roll around on steelies? You forget ( or dont know ) that a well sized wheel isn't just made to look nice. On top of that, over time Rota has been making better quality of wheels, not only in sizes but also in terms of strength. They are a good option for those of us who dont shit money and cant afford a 2000 dollar set of wheels, you said it yourself, spend the money elsewhere

I was at a metal yard the other day to get some square tubing to make a welding table for my garage.. I looked inside a bin full of rims made from all type of materials. Will I happen to come across a complete set of Fin style wheel made by Rotas. All of the rims have multiple cracks in the inner lip. It looked as they tried to repair it multiple time and it would crack again. They don't look bad, but I wouldn't want to deal with rims cracking during a event or when your driving...

its always something with people. First you all wanted new low offset wheels. People make them and people bitch. Next up is a cheaper wheel because 1800-2000 is too much for a set of wheels. They come out and again people bitch.

I have autoXd on rotas, they held up fine. Yes I have seen some fall apart, but I have also seen a lamborghini diablo fall to pieces. Shit happens, and dont let one bad experience ruin it for you. You get what you pay for, end of story.

They are nice looking wheels.

Here are some pictures that one of our 350z guys took for us. The wheels are super hot. This is the exact same staggered setup for you S14 guys. S13 just needs the wheel in a 4 lug or to do a 5 lug conversion. Super hot!!!
