I have an autometer Oil Pressure gauge. The gauge is reading 20psi off. Anyone know what to do about it? Gague is pretty old, may have some crap in it. Anyone know how to clean it out???? Thanks, Charles

Autometer = junk. Try to take the fitting off from the back of the gauge and try to clean it out.

huh? Are you serious???? I've had autometer in 4 cars, no problems at all. This is the first one that I've had issues with. It was sitting under my friends porch, lol, for about 6 months, something has to be in there.

Autometer = junk.
noob = stupid
is it electric or mechanical? if it is an electric just replace the sender IIRC they are about 20 or 30 dollars
if it is a mechanical you may have to just trash it and get a new gauge they can be a real pain to recalibrate, also look for pinches or kinks in the feed line they can cause residual pressure.

well i put it in my friends car, and it worked, but, like I said, it's 20 off. He has a gauge and his reads 40 at idle, my gauge was reading 20 at idle. In my car, his gauge was reading 20 at idle, and my gauge was reading nothing. It's an Autometer Ultra-Lite Gauge, Mechanical.

my autometer elec. oil pressure gauge changed over night... hopefully its the gauge thats bad...
ive seen many many autometer gauges crap out. theres a reason theyre less than half the price of greddy/defi/omori.

actually, i believe its a problem with the oil itself. if the oil is too viscous it makes autometer gauges read wrong. invest in some DEFI gauges, that shoulld fix the problem.... :fruit:

autometer is not crap. its just so mass produced. look at their 360 degree electric full sweep gauges. cheap??? yea, fuck you. cheap my ass. (i also like greddy units, a nice upgrade as well)
but mechanical units are just fine. mine was messed up, i exchanged it, took like a week to get to summit and back.
