I think so.  I used the metal "plate" from the middle shiftboot on my shifter.

You can but make sure the metal is actually connected to the body chassis because you can ground the radio to that screw hole that you use to put the cover back on that covers the radio. (Don't do that) Depending on how long your ground is you can put it on the frame that holds all of your dash components A/C, Radio, Cup holder or whatever you have there. You should see a 10mm bolt there that screws into your tranny hump, put it there to be safe.
