i've been searching high and low for a company that would be willing to make me some new wheel barrels for a set of impuls i have lying around
i've emailed jongbloed, image-line, and kodiak about this, but all three have told me they only make barrels for 3-piece wheels
does anybody know of any other custom wheel manufacturers that can make me something like this?

Try CCW and Forgeline

which side is welded to the wheel? the front or the back? if the back is welded you could prob. just get kodiak front halves as long as they were the right bolt pattern. if the front half is welded on, you can only increase the offset of the wheel, which sucks. i guess you could also get the barrels you have currently widened by a wheel shop.

Ha, I was looking for the same thing. I have a set of 2 piece Impul R5's.
I ended up taking them apart and I'm sanding and polishing them by hand. Hell of a lot of work.
Here's where i just started with some 600 grit and 000 steel wool up around the valve stem opening.

Ended up going all the way down to 320 to remove all the machining lines, then doing 400, 600, 800, 1000, 1500, 2000 and polishing. Quite time consuming....

very time comsuming.... i wonder if u could put it on some sort of rotating assembly and clamp it... while u just hold a single sheet of sandpaper in place... and just work thru the grits... this would make polishing alot easier also....

lol, a rotating assembly, maybe, like, the back axle of a 240? if you want to be ghetto about it, put the rear up on stands and have somone slowly rev the motor, people do that a lot.

Well considering the faces need to be removed so I can sand and polish them I can't mount them to anything.
What are the specs on the barrel?

Like someone said define the two peices. If the face is connected to the front half then its useless to change unless you can't fit the wheels or you just want wider wheels and get spacers.

As covered in the first post, those are for 3 piece wheels.
We are talking about 2 piece.

i have impul silhouettes. after looking at them, the face looks removable. the wheels are currently on my car and i have no tires on my mesh spares, so i haven't the ability to take them apart.
they are some weak ass 17x7.5 +25 right now, and i'd like to get some barrels to make them closer to 17x9.5 +10
thanks for the suggestions so far, guys, but neither ccw nor forgeline seem to do stuff like this
any other suggestions?

Perhaps I am just confused, but what is stopping you from using your 2pc center section, and just sandwiching 3pc barrels around it? Or if there is a problem with sealing, just put the two 3pc barrel sections together and put your center in front or behind them.
Is you wheel like that picture, or is the center attached to the front or back?

I dont think you are just going to be able to pick these up without getting them custom made. Wheels have different patterns where they bolt to the barrels.
Kouki KA-T, did you have to use a torch to seperate your wheels?

Nope not at all, just unbolted them and they came right apart.
While cleaning them prior to disassembly the wheel had literally soaked in Purple Power where the rivets are, though so if there was any stubborn corrosion in there it may have loosened it up.... but it was no effort at all to take the face off.

Lucky. Most 2 3 piece like SSR dont just unbolt apart, you have to get a torch and beat them into submission. Isnt purple power not safe for aluminum?

That sucks, I just had to hit it lightly with the palm of my hand and out it came, and these things are the dirtiest set of wheels I had ever seen...
Well it's not good for the finish, but considering the whole reason I'm taking them apart is too sand them down then polish them then it makes no difference...

Are you going to clean up the corrosion on the inside?
Ive polished a few sets and got all the stuff from http://www.caswellplating.com/

Yep, the entire wheel is getting redone, even the faces.
I'm just sanding the inside down with 220 and clearing it.
The lips are getting full polished and no clear, I'll just wax them every few weeks or use a good aluminum sealer.
Faces are going to be powdercoated over the winter, haven't decided on the color yet. Maybe a slightly darker silver, but not nearly as dark as gunmetal.... or maybe champagne gold.

my wheels, methinks, will be similar to kouki ka-t's when i take em apart. and i didn't know that i can take my center section and use 3 piece barrels on it. i'll do mroe research
thanks

if you take them apart, do you have to get them rebalanced?

When you put it back together, how do you know what torque setting those little bolts are supposed to be at? Is there a way to find out or universal setting?

It's not really that important. Torque ratings are based mostly on the strength of the bolt, just tighten them all equally and use thread lock and your golden.

No, I marked a spot on the back of each face that lines up with the valve stem opening so they will be assembled exactly as they came apart. There wouldn't be enough difference in rearrnaging the bolts to matter, but of course they'll be balanced as a whole once the tires are mounted..

Finished polishing 2 of the wheels completely. Average about 9 hours per wheel to sand & polish the lips, as well as sand and respray the faces and clean 40 rivets per wheel then reassemble.
Here's the final product. (faces are champagne pearl, I need to take pics in the sunlight)

Thanks guys. The hours I've put in are brutal, but I'm pleased with how they came out. I've still got 2 more to do, so probably another 20 hours of solid work when all is said and done.
I'm mounting tires on the 2 finished ones to test fit and see if I'll need to roll the front fonders to fit the tires i wanna run. (they are only 235-40 R-S2's, but they are XL like azenis so are really equivelent to a normal 245)
If they mess up the lips when mounting tires I will destroy them.
So back to the original poster, if you've got the patience for it you can make any old rim look 10 times better than most you'd get brand new. One of the rims I already finished even had slight repairs to be made. It had a minor stress crack on the rear lip that I welded up (about 3/4" and there was no dent or anything). And the lip had some minor rash that I used 180 and 220 first to reshape, then went through the other 8 stages of sanding/polishing and it looks mint.
EDIT... Err, just re-read and saw you were trying to change offsets, not just have new shiny lips, oops. Guess I really jacked your thread, my bad.
