OT: Need to vent.

I just got back from court for a speeding/reckless driving ticket. I got the ticket for racing down hwy 35n(downtown area) in KCMO. I was racing a MR2 in my 91 civic hb(Sold 2 months ago). It sucks cause at time(6 months ago) I not only lost the race but went to jail and the MR2 got away. He almost caused a huge hwy accident and at that point I slowed down but the cop could catch him so pulled me over. He clocked us at a 102(Stupid, I know) but wrote the ticket for 75 in a 55 along with reckless driving. Well I spent 3 hours in jail that night and man it sucked.
Well I got my lawyer to take care of it but since it was a manditory court appearance I had to go. Well I had a female judge and prosecuter(?spelling?). NOT GOOD!!
I had two choices......
1. 2yr suspended license, 4 points and a $300 fine.
2. 2yr probation, 180sec(get another ticket, go to jail for 180days), 30hrs community service, 25 and alive program, and $500 dollar fine.
Well I chose 2 cause.... well I like my license. OOO ya im 22(23 in june &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'> )
Funny thing is that I have not raced on public roads since cause jail sucked. I thought they would look at that and give me a brake... guess not.
Well I hope my misfortune will set an example in some of the young minds on this board and save them from going through the same thing.

I sure as hell hope so too...and IMO the penalty was about as harsh as it should be for the 1st offence...

I just got a reckless/speeding ticket a few weeks ago and i went ot court and i was lucky real lucky one is my first ticket and it was early and second i took the defensive driveing class first.I got a 70.00 fine plus court fee of 30.00 and left with no warnings/choices and i went to dmv last knight to check my record i have a positve 5 points which is good andthere is no ticket on my record yet.So i dont know what i got yet they said it could take anywhere from 30-60 days i was doing 63 in a 35.

basically it comes down to what the hell the cop says it is... i think they call it "engaging in a speed contest" anyway yea if a cop seeing you racing, he is only one man, so if he catching one he tags them with the racing penalty

Oh and dude you got dicked big time, the hell did you have a DWI on your record or something, they really gave it to you for a first offence...

anyway sorry man, i been to court so many friggin times, i got a court date coming up and i think they are gonna try to suspend me.... The crazy thing is, now that i have been driving like a normal human being i haven't gotten a ticket in a long time....

heres a sick story, 4 days ago, my 2 friends were racing, but it wasn't even a real race it was like high speed maddness basically.... one had a Accord the other in a sentra.. I was in the back seat of the sentra and we were at steady speeds of between 95- 120 .. the accord was like at a steady 120-140.... we were on 287 a major highway over here at about 1<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':0'>0am and my friend in the sentra swears he is like james bond or something he is dipping through cars at these HIGH speeds.. so we come to a point were 2 18wheelers are in front of us and he is going to try to dip inbetween them.. I was like "nick your not gonna fit, nick , ni, nick! , AHHHHHHHH!!" hes better judgement finally kicked in and he backed of, but if i didn't say nothing he probably would have killed us... &nbsp;that shit is dangerous, not worth it man

Wow, thats a pretty huge charge for a first offense.
This happened in the US right? Does anyone know what the penalty is for street racing in Ontario Canada?

I dunno. &nbsp;Yeah, it blows and everything. &nbsp;And, yeah, if you drive like that, you get f'd by the law. &nbsp;And, yeah, you have it coming. &nbsp;But, still, I dunno, dude, that's awfully extreme.

I am not saying this to change anyones mind but... i LOVE street racing.. &nbsp;and will always do it.. &nbsp;i can't wait to pull my s15/s14 back out the shop... &nbsp;there is a time to do it and a time not too.. but suxs when the cops get u.. &nbsp;use radar detectors..

I hear ya though, 287 is hot, whenever i get a new mod on my car and i wanna see if it did anything i go there on a late night

the thing thats cool about it is, you can see EVERYTHING in front of you, so its hard for there to be a cop hiding, and unless your doing 235mph you can slow it down by the time you get to him.... To help make my conscience not so heavy I only do it at night and when 395 is empty. &nbsp;I will have no part in killing innocent people so I will take a loss to make sure I and anyone else can stay alive...SOME PEOPLE RACE TOO HARD AND TAKE IT TOO FAR!!!!!
