Ok, i'm looking for a good set of lug nuts for my 92 coupe. It has z32 rear hubs and z32 wheels. and gto 5 lug after market hub upfront with z32 wheels. i plan to run spacers eventually and would like to get a good set of open eneded lug nuts. i want open ended lug nuts for the reason that i may replace the rear studs with longer aftermarket ones.
if anyone can point me in the right direction of a nice set of ones with out getting rediculously pricey.
i've been looking on ebay at the muteki ones, however i've heard to keep away.
please steer me in the right direction.
thanx

you can't run aftermarket lug nuts on OEM wheels.
you need OEM acorn open end lug nuts. you can get them at your dealer or autozone. 1.25 pitch.

Why can't you? When you buy aftermarket rims, we buy different lug nuts, since the stock lug nuts don't fit most of the rims. So if you put the smaller lugnuts on stock rims, I don't see why they won't work? Or am I missing something..

Stay away from Muteki. I used to have Volk lug nuts, but they cost me $110. You can try Buddy Club ones.

Why do you say this?

I've seen alot of people with these and they break easily. A couple of my friends ran them at the track, and a couple of them cracked and broke off. I don't know if they just got a bad set or something, but I wouldn't want my nuts cracking. :wiggle:

I have a set on my car and I have no issues with them.

I also had them and had no issues, but I felt safer with the quality of Rays lug nuts. My nuts didn't crack, unlike my friend's nuts. Hahaha

check e-bay for buddy club lug nuts. Haven't heard any reviews on them.

Never had a problem with mutekis. I torque them properly, track them.. removed probably more than 20times. Still haven't given me any problems.

There's more to lug nuts than you think.

Check and be certain the approved lug nuts are correct for the application.

LUG NUTS: It is critical that the lug nut matches the thread diameter, pitch and seat, otherwise the installation will be improper, and may result in damage to your wheels and could cause a dangerous condition. The three basic types of lug nuts are: conical seat (60 degrees taper "acorn" and "bulge"), mag or shank style, and spherical or ball seat. Thread diameter refers to the diameter of the stud measured across the shank at the outer edges of the threads. Thread-pitch means either the number of threads per inch or if metric, the distance in millimeters between threads. The Seat means the area on the wheel where the lug nut will clamp down.

Warning

Never use a conical seat lug nut/bolt on a mag or shank type lug seat and never use a mag or shank type lug nut/bolt on a conical seat. The two are not compatible and if installed incorrectly, the lug nuts may lose torque, possibly resulting in wheel loss or contributing to damage or injury. In addition, spherical or ball seat lug nuts/bolt must be used with spherical or ball seats. ONLY USE THE TYPE OF LUG NUT/BOLT COMPATIBLE WITH THE TYPE OF LUG SEAT.

OEM wheels uses acorn. aftermarket wheels use tuner.

most aftermarket wheels use the same seat as OEM wheels, so you can get aftermarket lug nuts for OEM wheels.

so nothing difinitve... i see a couple people recommended buddy club, which ive looked at and realized are way too expensive.

and oem which kinida sucks at the online pricing. im thinking the autozone ones will be fairly cheap though.
also, what do people recommend as far as thread lube? or anything like that.
i have been using it on my rear studs b/c they are old junkyard z32 hubs, and i had to kinda re-thread them a bit.

any more suggestions would be appreciated.

keep in mind i want to use 20-25mm spacers all around. with na z32 wheels

If you don't want to spend alot of money on lug nuts, try some buddy club or skunk2's. Check on ebay. Also try a set of ARP wheel studs. They're pretty strong and decently priced (on ebay as well).
