Ok fellas, this is my video from teh Adrenaline Drift event held at GIR STL a few weekends ago. Rob and Simba from ClubFR.net came down and showed us locals how to do this stuff. Lemme know what you think of the video, i did all of the videotaping and editing, besides the clips of me drifting(Tonya video'd those). Rob and Simba are driving pretty much every car in the video, with teh exception of the white drop-top and my Black S14.

you will need a DIVX codec.
Because no one locally was good enough, no real course was setup, and it was all pretty much a beginners day for people.

There are a few 240 guys around here. Only a small handful of us that are into drifting though. No one locally besides Adrenaline really supports it at all.

Perhaps I should rephrase.
I did NOT like the music, meaning that it's not something I'd go buy.... HOWEVER that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy it. I thought the music was fitting, just not something I'd throw into my CD player on my own.
It was great to see that you picked music that was:
a) fitting for the pace of the action going on
b) not from Initial D
c) not something I'd heard in multiple other vids (ie. why it's hard for Yoshi to like Linkin Park anymore)
d) not too much time spent on cheesy-ass transitions, GOD I hate people that have just discovered how many types there can be and then throw them all into the same vid... how amateur can u get?

Pretty much agree with him. Picking music for vids is a bitch, but a fun process. Well atleast for me because I never pick any kind of music I already have. I have made a good amount of videos (some can be found on clubfr.net) and the music was either suggestions from random friends or just something I dled randomly from someone on a file sharing program.
Something that fits the pace is always good and I prefer things that are good for synchronizing the music to the action. So far my favorite video is the one that I never posted anywhere, maybe I'll post it in the future, but I want to use the song for something else.

Right on, well thanks guys. This was only my 2nd or 3rd video i have ever put together, so it is definately a learning process. and yea, i got out of my lil "transition" stage a long time ago, that shit is just cheezy and tacky. I did all my editing in Pinnacle for this video, and i am learning how to use Premier right now, but as of right now, i hate that damned program. It is NOT user friendly and you have to do all kinda of dumb shit to do one simple task such as rearanging videos on a timeline. Anyway, Simba, what program do you use? and does anyone else have any reccomendations?

I use vegas video, I have premier and a few others but relearning some of these programs is hard.
Only thing I like about Premier is the firewire capturing thing, but I dont have firewire...
I think next year I am going to invest in a better computer and camera and mounts and yadayada and make some really good videos, so far up to now I have just been messing around.

I love it. They did great work at a great price and are all good guys. Billy's car actually recently went
[email protected] with just simple boltons and tuning.(OEM Pulsar turbo, and s15 injectors). The big thing is to make sure you get your clip from a reliable source.

Nice Helmets
I am really glad I went to the autocross that day. Adrenaline did a horrible job of promoting the event, and from what I can tell, the event itself was just as bad. I'd rather drive up to a ClubFR event again than pay $100 to do some donuts in Gateway's paddock.
[/being a hater]
Nice video though. It is good to see that people showed up and hopefully there will be more local events for me to attend (hopefully with another organization).

music = teh suxx
skyline = teh pwn
yeah, that was cool to see a skyline slide around
i guess you're the black zenki, so i thought i'd give you a tip or 2
i noticed that you were sitting WAYY back in your seat...not only that, but seemed to be fairly reclined...
also...i thought i saw you steering with one hand...not a good thing as well
if i'm wrong, i'll go get my eyes checked...but otherwise it's just my $.02 that might help ya out a little bit

Yep, you are correct. Because my shitty stock S14 seats dont hold my little ass very well, i've gotten acustomed to keeping a hand on the shift lever to brace myself, it is a habit i am trying to break. I am also new to this, so i havent found my perfect driving position yet. Although i didnt think i was sitting too far back, last night i went out with the seat very far forward and found it to be much easier to control. Thanks alot for the tips, that is exactly what i need to hear. I am in the market for a seat currently also, another tip i recieved from simba. But please, if any of you can offer honest advice i'd love to hear. Thanks alot mainevent!
amazing...you didnt take it personal...you accepted my criticizm and plan to learn from it
*shits pants*
but yeah anyhow, seat will help ALOT...if not a seat, get a little clubman harness to strap your ass down...also helps alot
Put your seat as far forward as you possibly can, and get used to steering with two hands. And i dont mean tossing the wheel to and fro like your favorite D1 driver. Pass the wheel hand to hand until you get to the point in your drifting where you NEED to throw the wheel around.
I am not making that up, I learned both my grip driving and drifting techniques from seasoned road racing veterans. Passing the wheel promotes quick hands, and also teaches you the proper placement of the wheel so you're not fishing back and forth for the right spot. Passing it allows you to learn later how to turn the wheel in transitions so you can point the wheels precisely where you're going...like how the D1 guys do it.
EDIT
please dont take my word for gospel. I do not pretend to think that i am some sort of drifting benchmark or anything of the like. Please know that i am only an 19 year old kid with no more then 4 drifting and road racing schools under his belt. Havent even gone back to qualify for Nasa group 2 solo.

Well i am a 19 year old with roughly 4 MONTHES of drifting experience and 0 racing school experience, so i'd be dumb to not at least consider your opinion. Thanks again for the tips. :2f2f:

I took it a different approach, but I guess it kind of depends on where you learn. I learnt in warehouse lots so I just threw my car into the corners let it go all the way for full angle then straighten out at the exit.
While straightening out you start to realize what different incriments in steering feel like. Once you know how they feel you will know where to catch the wheel.
Also depending on if you drive your car in the snow, find a big and long parking lot and manji. A couple friends and I found one and we spent 8 hours messing around in it. Taught me how to transition, how to hold long drifts in straights, how to know where to catch the wheel.
And the best part is never went through any tires, just lots of gas.

lol thats the fun of it, I got myself into about 3-4 feet of snow, watch out for dry patches, or just clutch kick over them :)
i got to practice drifting on a wet skidpad at one of the schools i went to...that seriously teaches you how to control your throttle...i spent more time at 0% throttle then anything else. I also got 1 full rotation around a 100ft skidpad by the end.
