So i know this will come as a shock to many of you, but I just blew something on my motor getting on an onramp. I wasnt boosting hard but white smoke billowed out the tail pipe - just as though I blew the headgasket AGAIN... I let it sit for 5 minutes, start it, then drive, no problem at all. I didn't boost after it happened and it was running normal pressures and temps. The shop is saying turbo seals, i think they are full of it... anyone?

I think you should give up. Get rid of the car and drive something without a turbo.

After you waited 5-minutes was it smoking at all?

If not then there's a good chance that it was the turbo/seals that ate it.

now we're talkin! I think once i get it all good, its outta here.
I don't have this kind of patience or money. Audi a4 3.0 here i come!

try boosting and see what happens. if its the turbo and it needs to be replaced already who cares if it craps out? listen for different noises then usual. oh and haha :fawkd:

If the turbo seals were gone, you'd see BLUE smoke from oil blowby. It's not the seals. White... mmmm, might be head gasket starting to go.

Have you driven one? My dad has one. He's got the "sport suspension" from the factory. And he added some huge sways, and it grips like no other. The problem is in the engine. It's got a completely linear powerband, which is good, but the problem is that it doesn't make enough power to be worth a shit. Power to weight ratio is crapola. And the rotating mass of the engine sucks balls too. Let off to shift at 6k rpms, and it'll pull to 6300 rpms before it drops off. sucks. Hell, my N/A ka is faster than his car. Just food for thought.

The AWD sure kicks ass tho. No denying that.

The 300 RPM increase is not due to a heavy rotating mass.

Physics > you

increasing the RPM of a mass increases it's stored energy, so energy must be put in. Greatter mass = greater energy input for the same RPM increase.

So most likely it is just a delayed closure of the electronically operated throttle butterfly, or a slow tach needle.

^^^^^^^^

well you're wrong. It's neither a slow tach or slow electronics (which is an oxymoron). You can HEAR the engine still revving up.

At any rate, if you don't believe me, go drive one. Then come back and tell me it doesn't overrev itself.

Pudula, ignore this guy's thread jacking, I was just giving you some input on the Audi.

Cheers.

you have got to be kidding me.
a car that has that much lag closing the throttle butterfly wouldnt make it past the drawing board, let alone be allowed in a legal street car.

Throttle by wire sucks ass and can have that affect, even in my bro's 04 F150 (which is throttle by wire) sucks ass there is a major delay.

T-25s have a tendency to blow and have coolant leak first. I know cuz i went tru 3 of them. Never had anything "popped" tho, its usually from boosting 14psi and creeping a bit over that once in a while.
