I say it is an S13 DE with painted valve cover...or could be a Primera DE with RWD tranny mounted...You can tell by the valve cover that it is not an S14DET blacktop , cause no angle on the back and in the Intake manifold position, only blacktop it could be is an RPS13 like mine with a Distributor conversion, but why? I say it is a Kit slapped on, wonder what the compression is on the motor

Its also not a blacktop. There are telltale signs, that are missing, that is definitely a redtop engine.
I would also hazard a guess to say it was a DE engine that was turboed most likely. DE clips can be had really cheap. With the higher compression they actually make for a peppy turbo setup. Of course you have to limit your boost because of it .
A lot of SER guys run higher comp engines that started life as DE's in their cars and they turbo'ed. They haul ass.
one of the signs is the non-finned front of the head right?
cuz my engine has fins at the front of the head, and some guy made a point to say i had a blacktop...when i really had an EXTREMELY late model Redtop (1995 180sx motor) they switched mid-year

it is a DET valve cover, since it has the threaded holes for the plug cover.

Hmm...so the question is, is this thing a DE added with a Turbo or a DET with distributor conversion? Cuz thats gonna be the difference in the bottom end.
