DOHC wont rev past 5k? any ideas

hello yall.. my friend is having a bit of trouble with her 240sx. its not revvin past 5k in any gear. i thought it would be the maf. weve changed it and it hasnt done anything. does anyone have ANY idea of what this could be? i jus want to help her get the car back on the road! thanks a lot guys. you helped me fix my last problem so im sure you can help me fix this one :)!

I predict a fuel problem: fuel filter, fuel pump, rusted fuel tank, etc... the more info you give us, the more accurate we can be.

If you mean EXACTLY 5000rpm, then:

5th gear switch...unplug it.

If it's bad, and the ECU thinks you're always in 5th...and the back-up speed limiter kicks in @ 5000rpm.

It's the middle switch on the trans (passenger side, IIRC):
