looks like a disco potato (gt28rs)
http://www.teamhpi.org/s14/turbo/DSCN1760.JPG
whats the exhaust size on that?
http://www.teamhpi.org/s14/turbo/DSCN1762.JPG
the .86 is the "disco potato" but it did come in a few variations
edit: taking another look at the pictures looks like its a .64, if it is a gt28rs with a .64 exhaust it probably came off or was going on a 1.8T (VW, Audi)

I'm the one and only you can't clone me! It takes grindin' to be a king, I said it takes grindin' to be a king.
Ok now that I got that outta the way, it looks like a GT28RS for sure, but smaller than what I'm use to.....I think Statik hit it right on the money.

the exhaust side don't have much markings, it is alittle smaller than the compressor
on the inside of the t25 flange, 64 is stamped, outside of the flange, 449010- is stamped
so this is not gt2871r for sure? :(:(:(:(:(:(:( how is it compared to the gt2781r?
by the way I did a research on garrett's website but I am not sure what the "64" on the exhaust side reflects

its hard to say exactly, if someone with a gt2871r could confirm its not, then im 100% positive its a gt28rs. The gt28rs is good for about ~330whp though its flow maps are good to 350lb/min. I have it on my car, its fast as fuck at 18psi and spools really fast, spooled faster than my friends TTZ with sports 500's
looks like a .64 exhaust

I have a stock internal, don't plan to change a thing. For reliability reason, I want to run only 15psi on it. What you think? be it gt2871 or gt28rs

I have had both the GT28RS and the GT2871R and they look externally identical, in fact, they use the same housings, and you can upgrade the 28RS to the 2871 by changing the centers
Both turbos are available in .64 and .86 trim.
So, without running the numbers through with Garrett, I don't think theres any real way to know, other than put it on, all the supporting mods, and dyno it.

Look for a part number for the center section. I think it should be 446179-0032 for the GT2871R

my numbers are all different on the one i just got, it was advertised as a gt2871r, before i get a ecu tune i wanted to confirm it. my exhaust side says ".86 1712" intake side a has a few numbers 2A2405 and 296 19, m24 a/r .60 B.O. no other number i can find.

dont worry, you dont need to know what turbo you have to get your ecu tuned....

JWT/Enthalpy style rom tunes are only for injectors/maf, thats it

looks like the the gt2871R my friend had, but like balilover said, they look almost identical. We ran 19 psi most of the time on a redtop with just headgasket, injectors, and enthalpy tuned ecu for about a year, and it's been running great.

They do look the same however the GT28RS is Turbine Wheel: 53.85mm w/ 76 trim, Compressor Wheel: 60mm w/ 62 trim Housing: .60 ar. GT2871R is Turbine Wheel: 53.85mm w/ 76 trim Housing: .86 ar, Compressor Wheel: 71mm w/ 56 or 48 trim Housing: .60 ar
I don't know why you would want .64 AR on the exhaust side on a GT2871R. I think you have a Potato.

I have a gt2871r and it looks exactly like mine, I can't say for sure though because there are other turbos like the disco potato that like just like it. If your using a bottom mount manifold have fun with that wastegate actuator being right in the way of the hot pipe. I had to modify mine. Just thought you might like to know cause nobody seems to mention that.
