I know u never get back what u put into a car. But, I also believe its not about the value of a car is only in the eyes of the buyer. Correct?
So this explains why completed MK4 Supras sell for 3 x their actual value...
Do you guys think a completed 240 has/or will have the same type of value in the market? With the "drift" scene increasing in popularity, I would think so...what you all think?
I'm just doing this to decide if i should keep mine, part it out, etc...

But yeah, you're right about the proper thread placement, this belongs in off topic.

i didnt think zilvia members are such assho*es. i thought they should be helpful. if he accidently post it in the wrong place, just tell him so... dont need to be such a dick about it. and yes, i am a newb to zilvia, but ive been on s2ki.com for years along with many motorcycle sites. but i have never seen anyone so inconsiderate as this ass.
something must have crawled up your ass today huh caoboy? try to pull it out man.

i agree... i'm new to the whole zilvia and nissan thing, but have frequented other forums. though (because i'm female) i have seen alot of inconsiderate people, that was probably one of the worst i'd encountered. all i can say to that... dude, chill out... it's just the internet.

long in short, they do, to a point (obviously not as high as supra's) reason i say this is because first hand i sold an s13 that bluebooked for $900 for $6400. the swap in a rust free chassis won't necessarily make you money but will help u get most of your money back that was put into the car.

I wouldn't totally agree with that. Yes the drift scene is getting big, but once 240s are as popular as civics and everybody has a 240; the car's value will go down because everybody will have one. You can find a really cheap civic now a days because they're everywhere. The reason why MK4 supras cost so much is because they're rare, you'll probably see 30 240s before you can see 1 supra.

For everyone else: thanks for the replies. I think my parts are worth more than the car, so I'll probably be parting the vehicle out and the selling the car stock with 180 windows and tails.

You have the 180sx garnish? Or the Koukis? If you have the Koukis, put on the stock lights and sell those!

i agree. if you have the stock ones, sell the other separate. youll make more money. especially if youre not in a rush to get rid of it. everyone out there is looking for lights.
goodluck with the sales man.

You should really make this into a FS thread.
Parting out your car is totally different than selling your entire car though.
I know I like when people part out their cars, because the cost of the parts is considerably less because they're used.

Cars depreciate, plain and simple. There are exceptions to this rule, but very very very few.
If you keep your car and build it, do it because you see it as a hobby you really enjoy, not because you think it will yield profit as an investment. There are much better investment options that have a much higher probability of appreciation (i.e. real estate, education, stocks, savings, etc).

the only 240sx i see ever going up in value or staying the same is a kouki S14. just because of the rarity.

Already covered that a while ago.
And the only way to make your car rise in value to is to let everyone crash their cars until the 240sx becomes extinct. Or just get a 98 kouki like me and wait it out.

i dont believe in god, thanks.
and yes, you caught me on a bad day, i jumped on, looking for a hub for a friend, and the first for sale post i saw was this. so i took my anger out on you, too bad. get over it, its the internet, and you dont have to cry about it.
:mephfawk: and besides, OFFTOPIC, is WAY far away from forsale/classifieds, and i really dont see why you put it in here, considering this has NO items for sale....thats why. so yea, act like a newb and post where-ever, and get treated like a moronic ricer that doesnt know how to use the internet. sorry for being so harsh, but sometimes we all get fed up with people not knowing how to put ur posts in proper places.

the thing with the supra is that its discontinued and the civic isnt...they still make the civic and thats why the value of older civics went downt...this wont happen with the 240 because it was discontinued 6 years ago...also if you notice the price of eg hatches is on the rise again because everyone wants to jdm rice them but sine there arent too many unmolested ones left they have been selling for up to 2k stock with over 100000000000 miles...any kinda of investment is a gamble...the only way to see if it pays off is time.u
