Here are some pics of my intake setup:

Heres my write up: Velocity Stack

1. Velocity stacks are bad ass
2. Cheaper than most intakes
3. Up to 17.5% more air, depending on the size (velocity stack vs intake without filter)
4. Come in different sizes
5. Looks fcking hardcore
6. And intakes are for LiTtLe GiRls

Conclusion:

My favorite part about velocity stacks is the wonderful sludge that you get when mix dust/dirt and fuel.
Air filters are weak becuase they are for people who drive their cars.

I personally like the idea of air filtration, lending itself to daily driveability

Don't many intakes incorporate a velocity stack? i.e Stillen and Apex'i.

But for this to be true, where did those calculations come from?

^^^ But don't EFFECTIVE intakes include FILTERS? I could care a shitload less if it flows more, but doesn't have a filter, I need utility and practicality

Actually I have a Stillen velocity stack that came with the car. And it's as big as yours. lol Just not as shiny.

EDIT: And you can mount a filter to it. :Owned:

ah, push-thru maf is for weiners, convert to blow-thru then step up you oldass grandpa. that or eliminate the maf then step up. you're talking about velocity stack increasing airflow then sticking a maf with a filter net and a plastic rod running down the middle. if we're talking about PRECISE flow then you've done nothing more than added show car appeal, congrats. i run blow-thru maf and nothing but a mesh screen on my compressor face, you don't see me making threads.

Naw dude, it's a Dirt/Air ratio. Newb.

I'm not sure if he has a wideband dirt sensor but my guess is around a 12:1 dirt:air ratio.

no i'm not saying the motor will go bad, the turbo compressors gonna eat shit, get chipped, then send its crap through the motor. dunno if that will kill the motor, but overtime in a severe case it can scar your walls causing compression leak. all because you wanted a shiney funnel.

Ok props on the added hp. However the tradeoff is not that great.

I would rather have a motor that last for daily driving, track events, and whatever the road throws at it, instead of a motor that has a whole 10hp more untill you go off track for the first time, and goes poo.
Imo.

i wonder how many of u guys here are running gay ass 3 inch filter adapters... soo restrictive and nasty setup imo..

Heres this for a comparison..
K&N Engineering's FIPK kit on my s13..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v72/streetphase/100_0592.jpg
Uses a big ass filter... K&N designs thier kits for maximum possible gain, otherwise they wont bother making a intake or call it an FIPK* (this series out of all thier intakes prove the most gain)

JWT Pop Charger intake on my Z32 maf (all JWT pop chargers are simular tho)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v72/streetphase/100_0591.jpg
I would think this one would be a winner..

Both use huge filters, same size and diameter...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v72/streetphase/intake.jpg

Throw into the mix, a super bad ass $13.99 system
http://www.procarparts.com/products/NIS-UNI-XXXX-BUXX-XXXX-FADX.JPG
I dont trust these things.. and besides.. id hate to get a BAR ref ticket becuase of a ~$20 intake.. lol

I tried one of those cheap adapter intakes in my car, and it actually was bogging out etc.. since its a more restrictive flow, and blocks out some of the maf.. besides, my computer tuned itself for the more air flow intake of the k&n..
