my car: 1992 240sx coupe

I am looking for a nice looking 16 or 17 inch wheel for my 240. not too sure on what the offsets should be, but still have the 4 lug wheels (and am going to leave it 4 lug). I am going to drift the car and would like your opionions on some
good wheel and tire combinations (with proper offsets) I just dont want to make the mistake of going with a cheap knockoff just because it looks nice. (although I am not aginst knockoffs at all, If the work good, that is all I care about).

I am interested in a black wheel with a crome or polished lip, but am open to anything, thanks, dan.

p.s. coilovers are coming soon, jic, office, or tein

Save more.
:werd: If you want some good wheels save up 300 more, and get some FNO1R-Cs I know it doesn't fit your "wanted" but those wheels are the best deal in terms of bang for buck. Don't get some shitty FWD offset wheels cuz the face is pretty, you'll regret it because they'll sit so sunk in your fenderwells.

Mustang Cobra replica wheels
available colors: green black white gunmetal silver
Size: 17x9 +20, 4 lug

Fit any size tire you want, fits with little , probably no work on s13(?)

Total cost: $500-ish shipped.

Downside: style is personal preference, weight.

But price can't be beat for new wheels

yea i agree with everyone else, save and get the wheels in good sizing, for 600...the offset/width usually sucks

Yeah you'll need to save a little more.... Good used 16x8 +25ish offset wheels will set you back $750 to $1000 depending on who and where you buy them. For tires you should try some 205/55s or some 225/50s.. Here's a link to a shop in CA that carries some wheels that might suit your preferences: http://www.takumiproject.com/products.asp

arent 4 lug mustangs like 4x110 or something? i was pretty positive the 5 lugs worked but the 4 lugs did not.

wow, you guys responded quickly, that is the kind of things I wanted to hear, I can budget some more cash for some good wheels, it seems that +20 to +25 is the correct offset.

just want to do it right the first time around.....anyone else?

i'm not sure. I thought 4 lug mustangs were 4x114.3 like the 240.

If i'm wrong, i'm sorry. the next best choice would be SPLparts.com's 17x9 +20 FNR01C

EDIT:
yup, i'm wrong
4-lug mustnag is 4x4.25 bolt pattern, 4.25in= 107mm

sounds like an ____ mesh kinda guy

enkei 92, riken, ssr, fill in the blanks

15x7 +0-10 offset and call it a day

or find some used JDM wheels 16x7/8 +30 somethings and slap it on a fatty spacer

OptionZero
08-15-2005, 05:24 PM
there's no "correct" offset, but +20 to 25 is pretty good, you can always go lower, and the lower you go, the less tire you can fit, and the more camber and fender work becomes necessary.

basically u can run anything you want, it just costs more for more extreme

you are limited for brand new wheels. You could pick up a set of konig rewinds for that budget. I would suggest searching for a set of used wheels though.

do they make anything remotely close to good size for us?

last i checked they had 15x7.5 or 17x7.5, neither of which is special

if they've changed since then, please correct me

I have no problems with my 15x7 +0 rewinds. They arent super cool choose your offset/width 1300 wheels but not everyone is into that.

I would definatly look for used as well, just as long as they are good quality, that is what is going to matter.

your best bet would be rbmotoring. takumiproject is usually kind of expensive.

I also suggest looking on ae86 forums. They usually have great wheels with great offsets in the for sale section.

Spend the $600 on tires. Save more money for better(lighter) wheels.

+1 for knockoff Cobra wheels and/or +1 for saving more money.

You can get the knockoff Cobra rims for super cheap on eBay, less than $500 as optionzero pointed out. The sizing is great but theyre on the heavy side, so its really based on what you wanna do with 'em.

Also per optionzero, Mustangs use 4x110 bolt pattern, not 4x114. So real Cobra rims wont fit our cars unless you get adapterspacerthings, and they're only 17x8 +25-ish anyways. The knockoffs come in 4x114 in anything from 17x8 +25+ to 17x9 +20 (I've even seen some as low as +15).

The price is good but there are other factors to consider as well.

Otherwise save more and pick up something nicer. Don't settle for less, you've already got $600 saved up, save more and get what you really want.
