i found this interesting little item on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymot....1416837 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1821416837)
you guys think this thing will work? is it a hard install? i doubt anyone on here actually has it on their car, but if i were to get it(just for shits & giggles), do you think it could cause any damage to my car(namely my muffler/rear section)? let me know what you guys think. later!
I'm honestly not sure of a worse way to spend a hundred and thirty-five dollars.

i think your post slowed down the board and yes you should buy it so maybe your 240 blows up and you wont be on here no more

LOL DSC
yeeeah. i'd be worried about the gas tank. if you do get it, tell a friend you just installed it and you want to see how it looks tell him to get in (he'll be happy to be the first to try it), and press the button. if the car blows up, hey, it wasn't you!
if it doesn't blow up, and you go down to where everyone meets, you do a flyby, shoot some flames, and someone wants to race, then what. tell them ya got a 17 second car and you spent your money on a flame thrower as an improvement? ha, ignore me. i'm sure you have good intentions.

It is a glorified set consisting of:
1 spare battery.
1 wire from the alternator to that battery
2 spark plug wires
2 spark plugs
and one toggle / pushbutton switch to close the circuit from the battery to the wires.
I'm quite sure that you could figure out how to wire it and buy the stuff for much less.

BTW: Our bumpers are plastic. Thats all I'm gonna say.

i think its awesome, im totally about performance but im also about fun, and that looks like a shitload of fun to me, even if it does melt your bumper you will still laff your ass off, its like relocating your hood squirters and using them like a squirt gun. fun as hell. oh and im a bad speller

OK now we have a real use for it! That would be soo awsome!
you can also use it to cook steak 2 mins or less

OK, so if I got this right, aparently a spark by your tailpipe will cause it to shoot flames?? I thought the cat was supposed to take care of unburnt fuel.
IIRC, gasoline fumes are more flamable/combustable than gasoline itself. Although, I would imagine those whould have been burnt up before the end of the exhaust pipe also, so I dono what gasses would actually be left to ignite. You could always drill holes in your cat and run really rich Just let off the throttle to get a nice fireball.

Most "real" flame throwing kits include an injector, the fumes them selves won't cause a flame (if your car is running right)

wow, sorry i asked. never saw so many sarcastic replies to one post. and by the way, for those of you with smart comments, im not THAT stupid, and yes i realize it wont do anything performance-wise to my car. but i recall you guys talking about an air-ride suspension kit a while ago, which serves only for show appeal and costs 10 times more than this thing. but anyways. thanks for your opinions.

that flame thrower kit is sick!!!!!!
and it works by shutting down a cylinder (not letting it spark) so the excess gas runs through the exhaust and POW you got a flame thrower. I knew some one who had it and it is so tight. and no your car will not blow up unless you are leaking gas like crazy......

Wow, shutting down a cylinder is probably great for your car. I'd stay away from it but thats just me.

Ok so I know a guy that has something like this on his 50's chopped mercy and well it is SWEET but some things to think of is that you will need to rev the FOOL out of your motor in order to get the big flames and if that is not a turn off that muffler tip can get GLOWING RED and most like would melt your bumper and whatever else. So even though it may be cool I would make sure that you are ready for such things

Why'd that ruin ur day? damn...whatever, this guy just has different taste.
Actually, you can just swap in an SR, run an atmospheric BOV, and watch it spit fire out of the exhaust without spending 130 bucks and not getting performance.
It's kind of funny actually. I'm on a quest to STOP my car from spitting out fire, and this guy is looking at a kit to MAKE his car spit out fire.

Jeeez! Let the MAN be, for crying out loud!
You'll attract some racers with those flames as well as the Police! I have a charred bumper and blackened tailight cause my exhaust doesnt have a cat and i shoot out some "great balls of fire" most of the time. And It's a bitch having to clean them all the time
BTY..those flames look too big and fake. A lot of people will know you have something rigged under there.

why does an atmospheric bov make you shoot more fire?

HAHAHA Those are badass, i would do it if their was no problem or chance your car could explode, just kinda for shits and giggles, or the intimidation factor. But i would want a safer way to do it, like it would be better if your car had that much power and could do that, instead of just making it look like it could, ive seen skylines do it from raw power, why cant us 240 fokes do it.

i could be wrong but please correct me, but doesnt that lead to holes in the exhaust? i really dont know
i have seen them on big carburated engines but EFI, honestly never saw that!

The car runs rich...the stock SR20 BOV is recirculating, but it recirculates after the MAFS, which means that the sensor won't detect that air. The air is there stock though, so the ECU adds extra fuel to compensate for the recirculated air. When that air that's supposed to be recirculated goes out into the atmosphere, the fuel is still being added automatically, but that extra air isn't there.
NO CARRIER

I've seen one hooked up to a Dodge Voltare... the green V8 beast was also hooked up with Oil Slick, ejecting spikes at the side... flame-tail, and smoke screen.
It was being raffled off... some 16 year old kid won the thing.
