my thermostat was going up... started over heating at times, before i reached H it would be boiling over the overflow, and the lower radiator hose would be cold. changed out, ran it for a hour @ night fine. came home next day went out ran it before work, fine, took it out during a break and when i came to a "stop and go" area it started creeping up. pulled to side.. radiator was warm could touch the plastic for about 10sec before getitng hot, and could hold hand on radiator cap for awhile. and nothing extra in the overflow tank nor was the water/antif hot. Could stick my finger in the overflow without it burning or whatnot.
Took it out after work, pounded on it for 2 hours, came to the same area "stop and go" then started creeping though i let it rise to " H " this time, pulled over same thing, radiator could touch, cap was warm but not hot, overflow was not boiling nor hot to touch.
There should be nothing blocking the coolant flow in the motor, it is only 2 years old, radiator has been flushed, fluid is perfectly clean (no oil or rust diposits). I just remeber when i would start to creep to " H " befor eit would be hot as hell under hood, and overflow tank would be overflowing...
Could be as simple as the sensor goign to the gauge cluster is fu ckin up ? and when iam @ " H " the car is still at normal idle (800 - 900rpm) .
and i remember i JUST nailed H at idle before cause my fan turned off, and the shit was steaming out my hood vent (280 styleeee) and i would have to wait a while to let it cool. i wait 2-5min top and its at normal op temp and i can drive the shit out of it now.
Just trying to look for some direction, maybe after "really" overheating i could of f'd up the sensor. ill prob swap the sensor goign to the gauge cluster see where that takes me, iam just tired of worring about overheating
