I hate not having a sound card, I keep seeing all these amazing videos going around and they are shit without sound. God I love f1, so much....One day I will have a small displacement aluminum v8 in a car. They just need to start making the engine I desire....I wonder if f1 will ever adapt direct injection or if the piezocrystal injectors cant operate fast enough.....

Too bad the 2006 season is going to be all V8's...

Search around for the Cosworth V8 prototype....it screams to 20k rpm.

It will go to 20k but the drivers will not be recommended to go above 18k for most of the time. Keep in mind these engines have to last close to 1000km now which is INSANE for a 2.4 liter engine developing close to a 1000hp inhaling air naturally. That is a common practice though for some time now... Most f1 teams impose a redline slightly lower than what the engine is truely capable of in hopes of keeping the damn thing together. Renault=owns Ferrari this year. Go Nissan!

Wow...beautiful engine, and it makes an even more beautiful noise. I can't even imagine what driving an F1 car would be like....way too much fun.

Sorry to bump this thread again, but can anyone explain to me how the fuel is going into the engine? I can see all of it being sprayed right there, but where is the combustion chamber relative to this? I'm confused...

I think you answered one of your own questions. You see the fuel being injected...at least what we suspect is fuel. As far as the combustion chamber goes, it is where it will always be with a piston motor. There is no way to change that.

The fuel is sprayed in such a fashion to allow it to atomise and and mix with the air more properly. They have done a lot of testing for that angle/distance.
