Sold the Desert Camo S13 last week, but kept the wheels for the Doctor (as in DR30, Doctor 30, get it? No? Whatever!):
http://yamb.bl3h.org/images/mondaynight/Dsc00158%20copy.jpg
Picked up this thing today, a legalized DR 30 1983 Nissan Skyline RS Turbo, powered by the 190 hp FJ20ET. So far, just kg/mm springs, KYB shocks and exhaust. Recaro buckets, meshies, harnesses go in next week, then a cage and an FMIC (to get to '84 210hp model level)... Hopefully.
And now, presenting the Doctor:

And of course, it decided to break down on me within 20 minutes of ownership. The untied battery decided to grenade itself...

77 isn't gonna work ;)... Those are C210. You want a C110 ('72-'76) KenMary.
For those who haven't met them, the infamous Ken and Mary from the Skyline ads:
http://blog.gtroc.com/1859/images/KENMARY.gif
Trust me, if I could get one, I'd get one as well :D. The guy who sold me the DR30 is picking up a C110 KenMary to replace it... And its 4 times the price of the R30. Then again, he has a RENNtech S600 as his daily driver, so I'm sure he can afford it :D.

honestly, I wouldn't pay more for the skyline than I would for any other early 80's beater. Don't get me wrong, I really like the boxy style, and the interior is much more to my liking vs the 240, but if he paid more than $4000 for it, then I just hope he likes it and appreciates the uniqueness of such a vehicle, I personally could not justify that over many other vehicles above $4000. From what I've come to understand, the r30's and r31's are cheap as dirt in japan, so come two years and they will be over here in the states just like the r32's in canada...even with an importing markup it should be relatively inexpensive.

Actually, the R30 is a cult car in Japan (much like the GC10/100 and C210 Skylines), and a decent example of an RS-Turbo or RS-X can fetch mid-to-high $20k prices.

So the car isnt legalized, it's registered. Why is the difference between these two terms so confusing to some people?

Yeah, i think you are exaggerating that by quite a bit. Not a bad car though. Fj's are badass.

They did indeed , It was their first twin cam 4 cylinder. Before the FJ the only other Twin Cam Nissan had built, was the S20 2 liter 6 cylinder, installed in the Fairlady Z 432 and Skyline GTR of 1970 -76 vintages.
It was roughly the same time Toyota was playing with their first Twin Cam 4 's as well the 2TG and 3TG. Yes,Toyota also built Twin Cam 6 2 liter as well, that was in the S2000, in the late sixties, of course, this was with the help of Yamaha technology.

That is a sick car, I love the vintage appeal to it...All Freeway Speedway style. My favs are the R32 GTS-T, but I think the DR30 is quite hot too. Nice find, and I would also be interested in the Registered/legalized clarification.

Well, legalized means it went through official channels. Registered means it bypassed those channels. This car is 100% legal... Lots of money was spent in the 1980's to make it DOT/EPA legal by the original owner. The Bureau of Automotive Repair tag on the car and the 1983 NISS SKYL RS CP on the pink attest to that :D.

Awesome find. I would drop my s13 in a sec for a old school car, but living in a rusty state doesnt help the old cars out at all.
