Audio Question?

Does anybody know where to run the power cable through the firewall on a 97 240 SX SE? &nbsp;Any suggestions? &nbsp;I am at the point where I am getting ready to take a drill to the damn thing... <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/hmmm.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':hmmm:'>. &nbsp;Thanks for the help in advance.

there is a hole/plug oon &nbsp;both the driver and the passenger side......
look for a plug in the firewall

Yeah...I came across the driver's side plug...but I couldn't get the bastard to come out so I could slide it in. &nbsp;I was wondering if there is any other way through the firewall....thanks for the suggestion though.

i drilled the damn thing on my s13 =b

or, a good idea i adapted was to run the wire under the car, and move battery to the trunk.

so now i have a hole in my firewall for my fogs =b

just put a small hole in it then silicone it make it real tight and clean looking ,it worked on mine

I just wired my amp (just to power the normal speakers) nd I used the plug on the passengerside to get through the firewall. I won't drill into the body unless I absolutly have to. IMHO if it's not worth doing right, it's not worth doing at all.

Give this a shot.

On the passenger side (in engine bay) there is a large grommet with a bunch of stuff going through. &nbsp;Inside the passenger foot well, remove the glove box, and kick panel.

Then attach your power wire (with duct tape and a good bend) to a straightened coat hanger. &nbsp;Try to make it as slim a profile as possible. &nbsp;Use an exacto knife to make a small incision in the grommet between the metal of the firewall and the bunch of wire. &nbsp;This is your guide hole. &nbsp;Now just push that sucker through. &nbsp;Your coat hanger should pop into your passenger footwell without too many problems. &nbsp;The hole should also be real tight against the power wire (no leaking).

I have to run 4ga for my 2 amps, so what I'm probably gonna do is buy a real nice grommet like the PhoenixGold one, and just drill a hole in the firewall and put my own grommet in there. &nbsp;That way (as 240meowth said) I'll have a spot for my power wire, and my fog light switch wires (once I get them)
It'll look real clean and keep the seal.

I don't think it's ghetto. Thats exactly how I ran mine and it worked perfectly. Best of all, no drilling.

If you want to make it easier, take off the right fender liner and it will give you easier access the plug. I just did all of this a week ago. &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':thumbsup:'>

one question, since the desk only come with one remote wire, and you have 2 amps, how you gonna wire to both amp to make it work. OR even if you have a extra cap( i'm gonna put 2 1 farad cap for my 2 amps). And this question just pop up in my head. It sounds like stupid, but i really want to know it, because i'm gonna put all the amps, and caps in at once soon. thanks for reading it.

Being an install tech, the "proper" way for us to do it was to drill a hole in the firewall. &nbsp;You may need two grommets, because the firewall is double deep. &nbsp;I ran 4g to the back via the passengers side, and ran RCA's on the drivers...

If you drill a hole, you may wanna use a rubber grommet to line the hole. &nbsp;A grommet is one of those rubber doughnut lookin things thats usually no bigger than a dime, and is placed in drilled holes so wires can come out and not become frayed over time by rubbing on the sharp metal lip of the drilled hole.
