okay, so i bought what i was told were z32 N/A rear aluminum uprights. i went to put them on my s13 this evening, and i discovered that the hole for the lower ball joint spindle is waaay too big. did i get scammed and get the wrong uprights? or am i just dumb and need to get a new lower ball joint thats the right size?

needless to say, i'm now kinda pissed at having spent $200 on JIC FLT-A2 lower mounts that i can't use...

You didn't research enough. The Z32 upright uses a steel insert for the ball joint to reduce wear on the aluminum. You can order them at the dealer for about $10. The fiche on tt.net will show the part number. Usually when you pull the Aarm off the Z32 they remain pressed on the balljoint, the seller failed to notice it.

I beleive even the SuperStreet tells you that they are needed. I think they reffer to them as "cones".

I know I did a brief writeup on FA a few years ago when I did my car, you should know zilvia isn't the answer to tech stuff.
