First of all, I know I have enough money to do it, I'm just not quite sure what it costs. I don't know enough about cars nor do I have the time to attempt it myself, so I'm planning on finding a local shop to do it. If someone could give me a ballpark figure of what it might cost, that'd be nice. I'm basically lookin at buying a beater POS 240 with 200k miles and making a good project out of it.

Mainly what I'm concerned about is the handling. How does an rb26 change the handling charactaristics of a 240?

I'm thinking this would be too expensive, but how much additional work would I be looking at to convert to AWD? or is this still relatively an unknown....?

I did search, found a whole lot less then a thought I would, and didn't get any of my questions answered.

7-9k for the swap if your doing it your self. 10-13k+ if you have someone else do it. The chassis is the cheapest part, so you might as well get the cleanest one. Enough said.

Well.....thanks for the reply, but you only answered one of my questions.

I wouldn't be looking for a clean chassis either, I'm looking for POS to partially strip and to rebuild the suspension.

Agh, also, can you keep AC with an rb26 swap? because well... no AC, no care.

It's TOO MUCH money to do AWD. You'll end up having to use an RB25 tranny. And with enough money you can have new AC lines made. I would agree and say about 10k for it installed. As for price of 240 chassis.. well you can find that one.

Just do an RB25 swap and mess with it a little. A lot easier/cheaper. I even heard a rumor rb26 pistons fit inside rb25s.. but don't hold me to that.

The RB motor is a whole lot larger than a KA or SR so you will have a different weight balance no matter how well the motor is positioned. It's made for a bigger car.

Also, think about the availability and cost of replacment parts. I wanted to go RB.. but I can't go down to Kragens and get a new headgasket for it, and shipping time for replacement parts SUCKS.

Go Ka-T, End of thread.
