Do these matter? I bought some FNs from a FC owner and he said the shop gave him some hubcentric rings, theyre like black polyurethane/plastic rings but they dont fit on my hubs.
Just concerned cuz the rims dont sit exactly flush on that round metal part on the hub like my meshies and OEM rims do. Might be putting more load n the studs now... When you buy FNs for your 240sx, does the shop give u hubcentric rings? Im using s14 hubs if that helps...

The hubcentric rings do not carry the weight of the wheel at all. Their purpose is to center the wheel on the hub for rotational balance. In my opinion, if you aren't having a balance problem that is noticeable through humming and harmonics, don't waste your time or money on hubcentric rings.

hubcentric rings do matter.
iirc, they cause warped rotors over time.
not to mention they're not that expensive...are 240 owners really becoming that cheap?

I used to have bad vibration over 65mph, shaking steering wheel and all that. A set of hubcentric rings fixed it.

Flybert is right to an extent, they do help in what he said; but they really play thrie part in keeping the wheel from sticking to the hub; as far as raen419s's comment, drop that. They don't cause the rotors to warp in ANY case. .. . Aftermarket wheels (some) already come with the hubcentric bearing installed. Grams Lights Don't; i need a new one, wanna give me one ? ! ? !
Oh: and all those TTTTT's cut that. . . This is a little extensive, funny, but not ziptied funny.

czech it out:
balanced wheels are for little girls
and
un-balanced wheels are for men, that get new tires like 4x a month. (you know who you are)

www.discounttiredirect.com sells hub rings on Ebay all day long, just tell them the wheel type and car it's going on, $16 a set I believe.
i have some extra sets for sale locally if anyone needs. I can bring em out to the 8/7/05 bbq in foster city. 8 bucks a set.

definitely run them
they are cheap
nissan wheels are suppposed to be centered on the hub
i think toyotas are centered by the lugnuts

I believe they are very important in terms of balance, and for such a low cost, are very effective. I wouldn't run a wheel without it.
Just looking at them from a logical point of view, when you're mounting them, and you have some vertical/horizontal play, and then you lower the car (assuming the car was on a jack), the studs aren't going to be centered in their holes.

Good read, but I found something contradictory to your statement, Flybert.
Hubcentric wheels have a hole at their center that fits closely over a round feature on the hub, serving to center the wheel on the axis of the spindle, as well as bear the vertical weight of the vehicle. The wheel bolts or studs then serve simply to hold the wheel onto the hub, and are loaded only in tension, where they are strong.
The argument that the actual hub carries the vertical weight is very reasonable, while the lugs just hold the wheel to the hub surface laterally.
Not sure who is right, but it is highly worth the discussion.

Var? are those metal or pastic?
Turdz, i think it could be both, either way, if ur rims not flush on the hub, Id get rings... cant hurt, and you will surely have the rim centered, equal load on all lugs, etc...
they are like a poly compound thingy. they reduce vibrations between the wheel and the hub.

I was always under the impression that our cars require hub centric wheels, NOT lug centric. Also the hub is designed to bear the weight of the vertical load, and keep the wheel centered.
basically exactly what turdz is saying.
When I had my fno1r-c mounted. My friend said i needed hubcentric. So he found some at the shop and hooked it up for free. 66.10mm IIRC.
